Thumbs up One more for the list...

Saw this one in someone elses norwalk pic post.

Norwalk always seems to have a nice assortment of 61-63 Tempest & Lemans'

I think this was Tony Defosters (sp) old 63'
This was one of the first ones we ever saw way back at Maple Grove.
This car was the fuse that lit my buddy to build his 63.

Anyway thought I would add to the list.

I noticed all but a few were racing. Next year will be the 50th Anniversary of the Tempest and hope to see them all there on the track and on the show field!! I had mine in the swap area and my buddy Joe had his 62 GTO powered Tempest wagon in the swap area too. It was a great weekend!

Nothing prettier than a blue pontiac mill in a white engine bay.

To the Moderator*************8

Why not turn this into a sticky as the official pics or '61-63 Tempests/LeMans?

My brother had a '63 w/326/3 speed. Went through 7 trans in about 2 years. He had traded in a '59 Bonneville w/tri-power. He took it off and tried to put it on the LeMans not knowing manifold bolt pattern had changed. He simply bought a new tri-power manifold and put it on the LeMans. Boy would that car run. And he RAN it and Ran it and Ran it. It was a fun car. I was 17 at the time.

Default 62 Steet and Track Car

I have finally figured out why I have not been able to post and want to share some pictures of my 62. I bought the car in 2007. The car had a SBC in it when I got it.
I spent the next year redoing some bad chassis work. The car now has a Pontiac 400 with a TH350 feed a Ford 9 inch. The car has ladder bars, pan hard bar and coil overs. Other work includes undated electrical a Scarebird front disk conversion. We made it to the track last year for 6 runs and bested out with 12.50 in quarter. Not bad for a set of iron heads, stock crank and ingition. We are in process of repaint but here are some the body just after paint. More to come.

I agree 100% on the grill look. I like the 61 grill the best but I have two 62's so this may be a cheap option instead of switching over to 61 parts.

I like the red look. I like modified and custom's anyway.

Default 62 With a few twists

Here is the another sneak preview of my 62 with few mods to the grille. Purest don't fret the grill need lots of work to get looking this straight. The car now has glass in it. Working on the interior and wiring. Hope to have it at Milan Dragway next week.

Default Condition report

It is pretty straight and Keith you have a good eye the back bumper has a little dimple in it. It was originally a Texas car.......I have found no evidence of rust repair. Inside the trunk and under the hood look great as far as being untouched and in very good condition......It has the original and perhaps unusal cloth interior.....it is in the custom line not the LeMans. Its top is new . It has 89k. It needs attention mechanically...something is dreadfully wrong with the suspension-----lots of creaks and groans. It doesnt run the greatest either...Its idle is variable sometimes dying at stops and sometimes not. Slight rattle upon gentle accelleration comes from the engine. Its an automatic...doesnt shift quite right but the kick down cable is broken and have been told when I replace that and adjust it it will be fine. Its a manual top. I don't remember the paint color name but it is an original color------It has been repainted. I'm waiting to replenish the bank account so I can get started on these repairs. About all I can do now is look out in the garage and smile

Check your trim tag on the firewall next to the wiper motor. I bet the paint code is "L" for "Belmar Red Poly". Very rare color. I think I have only seen it one other time on a Tempest. Looks pretty good. Just in need of a little TLC!!!!!
