They are both cool. the 55 of course is much more extreme. The 67 is fairly typical of what was around in the 70s. It was very popular to have a raised muscle car until the very late 70s when the handling thing came about and the trend started to lower them. Up until then, nobody wanted a lowered car except the low rider types. Most everyone had a raised car, maybe not that much but, lift kits sold very well for many years..

Where I'm from in NY we never raise em like that GTO. We did use Gabriel airshocks for the rear tho. When the rage hit for raising a vehicle it was in the 80s for pickups and the SUVs like Bronos and Blazers and vans. I never go into that. For me, I sat high enough in an 18-wheeler. LOL

Here are a few of my '64 GTO. In 1965 at Union Grove Drag Strip in Wisconsin. Car ran a best of 13.29 @109.75 with the original 389. With the 4 barrel AFB, it ran a best of 13.65.
The next pic is after a couple of paint jobs in Don Miller Pontiac during a Pontiac Car show in 1984 or '85. The last picture was taken traveling to the POCI show in Denver, 1985. One year later, the car was destroyed when my house burned down. But, the engine and trans are going in my current '64 GTO restoration.

I think this is a great shot...the trucks, the old style truck stop, the background, the fact that it was taken on the move and check the sign...Bonneville Service.
