I have to get new tires over the winter. I have to run a DOT tire for my index races. I have been running MT streets (bias) 13.5 x 30. I am happy with the way they perform. Average 1.38 60's with a best of 1.35. They lasted 3 years. Thing I don't like is they lose air, will go flat in a week. I am also looking at Hoosiers quick time pro 13.5 X 29. Hoosires are close to $50 cheaper each. I don't think the 1" shorter will hurt me much. Has anyone run both?

Another question, Do you think I should run tubes? I was thinking of put them in so the tires don't go flat. Also think it would help stiffen up the side wall.

I can't answer your question about ETs vs QT Pros since I haven't run the sizes you mention, or as quick . I stopped running tubes a few years ago when Mick (lust4speed) suggested losing the extra weight & the cost of the tubes. The local MT outlet suggested using liquid dish washing soap inside the tire carcasses to keep them from airing down between uses. I prefer Dawn, liberally applied with an old toilet brush. As for stiffness, I ordered & used both tires with their stiff sidewall option which really helped the handling on my heavy GTO.

I replaced my tires this year to Hoosiers from M/Ts. My car is heavy 3340 empty. I went to tubes this year for two reasons. One I was tired of constantly adding air to them and two I was hoping for better traction with the tubes. As for the added weight my 0-60 got better as did my trap speed. Worked for me.

I have ran both of them and both worked
very well, but I went back to the M/T
drag radial, they never have leaked down.
I also tried the dawn dish detergent it
helped a little on the quick time dot.

I've use the Hoosier Quick Time Pro's, and the M/T ET Streets. Both were fine at first without tubes, but as the tires got to be a couple seasons old, started leaking down. They also moved just a tad on the rims, and required screws as well. For all practical purposes, they are a drag slick with a couple of grooves cut in them.

The M/T Drag radials don't move on the rims, or leak down. Don't last very long either, and they don't work nearly as well on cold or poorly prepared tracks as the non-radial version.

I may go back to the bias ply M/T ET Streets, they will get tubes, and rim screws from day one......Cliff
