Was not an issue with the inner ones as each inner stud had one on each side for support. But the end ones was a different story. After the inserts were installed, no more issues. IIRC,,I used the deapest insert available for the stud used, .750.

Some of the rocker stud holes will need much shorter inserts, as they are nowhere near .750 deep. If I recall, the material depth over the intake ports is less than .500. With isky adjustable guide plates installed, the intake rocker studs protrude through the intake runners ~.100.

What were you running on the Superchief's for cam lobe lift, rocker ratio and spring pressure?

Since the Rocker Shafts are going to be custom, how about adding additional "Countersunk" fasteners through the rocker shaft's base. You can space the extra fasteners between the current rocker stud holes. Picture adding additional threaded inserts, maybe of a smaller diameter, between the current holes that you would have already upgraded with enlarged threaded inserts.

The hardness of the aluminum is the issue and additional fasteners may be the answer.
