The schedule for this auction is January 18 thru Jan 27. (advertised as 3,000 cars to be sold).

Their website says that if you "join up" (free membership) you can watch the auction on Internet and get info on cars offered, sales prices, etc.

The website shows the top-ten cars sold to date. Without looking at the details it appears as if the prices are comparable to what Barrett-Jackson's were.

I figure that whatever the Tempest sells for, the next time it comes up at an auction it will have the correct transaxle in it and it will have the ORIGINAL front clip on it and then it will command a price well above what it sells for now.

I'm not totally in the loop but am not aware of any actions in that regard.

Keith,I believe the tans axle will end up in someone else hands.I know it needs a main shaft and was also the version with the fluid coupling.To change to a clutch will take a real machinest and would be a project of love.Now if Ken and Mike got together and bought the car,then it could be done.Tom

I can say based on experience that you are wrong. With about 400 old Pontiacs here, I sell vintage Pontiac parts and have plenty of customers in their 30s and 40s. They are hardly 'boomers'. I also have plenty of Pontiac friends in their 20s and 30s and 40s.
I even know of a bunch of young men in their late teens into 60s era cars.
There will always be interest in 60s era cars . I do see the interest changing though as less and less of the younger people care if it has original hose clamps, correct dates on things like starters and alternators, etc. There will be more interest in modifying these cars.
Yes, prices and interest with cycle up and down but, there will always be interest in 60s era cars and , thus, there will always be value in them.
Pure original restorations will stay primarily with the elderly.

The main problem with the hobby subsiding is most of us have our cars so cherry we have to park them in garages and drive a late model to work. We take our pristine vintage cars to car shows and sit in lawn chairs with people their own age.
What is wrong with that? Well, you are not exposing younger generations to these cars because they never get to see them. It is your ( their fault ).
I drive my 66 GTO daily regardless of weather and I tow with it. You would be surprised at the attention my old car gets from young people every day! Exposing younger generations to vintage cars is the smartest way to keep the hobby strong.

The owner must be in a conundrum. Everyone knows the original front end that came off that car exsist. Is it worth it to put it back to original and hope he gets the price out of it or take the money and run. There was a lot of publicity on that car when he bought it.

The front end is not in good shape!He wants stupid money for it.The hood needs to be reskined and all the rest repaired.Tom

It's not just the front end. That car was modified. According to one of the magazines it is missing the transaxle and has a different transmission in it. They did good work, it's just not how it was built.
