FWIW: the pinion seal shows a different part number for the 65 and the 66 to 70. I've never compared the seals to see if there is a machining difference in the carriers or not...

That's interesting. I pulled the 3.23 open rear out of my '66 GP and installed a 2.56 POSI out of a '65GP.

The pinion seal started to leak some time later and my diff guy was having difficulty getting a seal. I would assume he was looking for a '66 seal and I never told him it was a '65 diff. He eventually solved the problem but its something to keep in mind for the future.

Rock Auto calls for SKF 19310 for '65 and SKF 19273 for '66. They are definitely different. Here are the specs:
