Not clear enough to read, but looks to me that it is same as the "455 C.I.D." call out on other '70s as far as size and how it aligns with the "GTO" decal.

I don't know '70s very well, but that's what it looks like to me.

Vaguely recall hearing that Grissom was known as a practical joker. Was it him?

Mercury, Gemini, Apollo what a magical time that was.

Pic of that wreck is printed reverse image (accounting for the RH drive steering wheel).

But raise your hand if you remember gas being that cheap (my hand is up).

Also, coincidentally, of the cars in the background, my Dad owned a '50 or so Chevy that had that same fastback roofline, we called it 'ol Betsy. Ratty interior in '63-'64 but ran great with a rebuilt engine. And the Mopar passing by looks a lot like my first car, '63 Fury hardtop. Oh yeah, I was into HO scale slot cars but the pic of the larger scale stuff brings back memories too.
