Some trivia on the "Honker". "Bud" drove that car home from the factory. It was technically a factory option "production" car and he took delivery of it at the factory and drove it home. In the book, "We Were The RAMCHARGERS" Bud says something like, "It transferred weight very well." on his drive home from the factory. I'm thinking Bud pulled the tires off the ground at a stoplight.

COOL, huh!

![]() Now... can you tell me which one took a picture of his urine as it was ejecting from the capsule as a practical joke and put NASA in a panic.

I don't know '70s very well, but that's what it looks like to me. Vaguely recall hearing that Grissom was known as a practical joker. Was it him? Mercury, Gemini, Apollo what a magical time that was. |

I'm fairly sure that last shot is the Deschutes River in OR. I've rafted it a couple times and there is quite a story about the two railroads and the competition to get up the river first.

Pic of that wreck is printed reverse image (accounting for the RH drive steering wheel).
But raise your hand if you remember gas being that cheap (my hand is up). Also, coincidentally, of the cars in the background, my Dad owned a '50 or so Chevy that had that same fastback roofline, we called it 'ol Betsy. Ratty interior in '63-'64 but ran great with a rebuilt engine. And the Mopar passing by looks a lot like my first car, '63 Fury hardtop. Oh yeah, I was into HO scale slot cars but the pic of the larger scale stuff brings back memories too. |

I can't remember Rocky, and it was only recently too...maybe on a Facebook page? There wasn't any info on location and when I saw it I was in shock. It looks a lot better after Mike touched it up. Love this car and it seems there is very little about it known. Ram Air IV I read.
