The difference that I think NASCAR should have considered (in making a stronger hit on Brad) is that Brad was driving (and hitting things) heading towards the pit crews.

Tony backed up to hit the idiot - the crews were in the other direction.

The ruling on Brad is unusual in that there is a consistent pattern of 25 points & $100k in other similar post race events. Why did they break pattern here?

My wife claims that it's because it's during the chase and the incidents did not occur during the race, but after it was over.

I think she may be onto something. Or was that on something...

He is currently 10th in the (Stupid) Chase standings, only 7 points ahead of JJ and DEjr, wouldn't a loss of 25 points take him out of contention? If so, that is why he wasn't penalized.

I think for all three of them - the only safe way to make the next round is to win at 'Dega.

Personally, if his actions justified the 25 point penalty (and I believe they did), the fact it would take him further out of contention shouldn't matter.

Last year when penalties were assessed - it took someone out of the Chase. Which was the right thing to do.

The one with the hair trigger was the one that hit 3 different race cars after the end of the race.

Getting rammed from behind when you did absolutely nothing wrong might have a tendency to upset most people.

true, but then "most people" recently involved in a deadly "accident" don't get upset enough to use an automobile as a weapon.

Most people don't use their automobile as a weapon three times in a lifetime - the instigator (Bad Brad) did that in a couple of minutes.

However, I have seen many people have an accident backing up that did more damage to a car than Tony did to Brad's race car.
