Transporter, I was indeed going to use my new 5 heads in the competition. Unfortunately if I could have made it I would have probably been DQ'd, but I was still going to enter with them. The thing I don't understand about the rules, Is if you read them closely they contradict themselves. I won't go into it here, but you can look for your self. The odd part is they will allow a Ford FE OHC engine, but not a Pontiac ram air 5 ??????

455 firebird, The heads could be used in either application successfully, and probably will be. I agree with you about a high winder. I cannot wait to here a set of these singing on something north of 8,000 rpm.

Scott, I designed my heads to use Harland Sharp 1.65 roller rockers and guide plates. So if you already have HS rockers you can use them without any problem. Harland Sharp is also designing me a shaft rocker system. Those will be available with up to a 2.0-1 ratio's. You can definitely use your existing pistons although you may need to fly cut them a little.

No Don, I understand completely what you are saying about the rules as confusing, that's why I had asked, I thought maybe you had contacted EMC and asked about them being legal, because there is a notation on their site about other combo's "may" be approved.

Hopefully you can get ahold of them and they would approve for next year, regardless of whether those heads actually ever made it "out the door" with a car attached, they WERE an OEM head, I would think that they are at least in sprit and design a LOT closer to the original than some of what is being allowed at this point.

Just my two cents.

I meant to post this a few weeks ago. This is a shot of the real thing these heads are going dons 480 ci 2.300 1.68 5/16 stem . Some might need to sit down the intake port volume is 365cc should be less than 370 after it is all finished up the exhaust port is 260 cc after porting I know that might sound big for a lot of people . But I think the port is raised up around 1in over a factory RAV I could see a. 400 + cc port for the big engines no problem

Nice work, looks like you are thru at the headbolt, going to sleeve? Also what is the csa at the pushrod restriction? And finally, what length valve are you going with?

Thanks . I will have to sleeve the bolt hole if I break through the other side . Valve length 6.45 nothing to trick with the valves shelf stuff for now to get a nice base number I've tried a lot of diffrent valve jobs on the test heads and different valves 3 different back angels on the intake and exhaust and enough different back cuts to drive a màn crazy 5 intake valve dia 3 exhaust valves dia two diffrent valve spacing widths two different spark plug loactions

When is this thing going to be a running engine? How are all the other parts coming along?

Paris and Don, your RAM AIR V Head Port development looks like it is coming ALONG VERY NICELY!! Great Work Paris, that port should flow some air, along with great air speed.

Keep up the great work. I can't wait to hear the engine with this port design SING!!!

Don and Paris, do you have any additional photos of the exhaust ports or finished combustion chambers? It is great to see your development work is coming along very nicely. All of us can't wait to see them on the engine.

These are some photos that are on Don Johnston's DCI Facebook page. These are the tooling for his cool intake manifold to allow his customers to fit everything under the hood!
Check out the thought that has to going into making an intake that will work for stock type builds to FULL blower engines! A friend of mine is putting a 14:71 BLOWER on top of this intake! Cool of sure.

I here ya Rick!!!! I have not given it much thought for a black Friday sale, but I can do that. I only have 3 sets left from my first run of heads. So if I do have a sale and someone wants a set for under the tree they better call fast. After these are gone it will take about another 4-8 weeks to get my next batch depending on the foundry and machine shop. Rick your enthusiasm for my heads is great. I really appreciate your business and support !!!!!

Thanks Rick for posting those intake tooling pic's for me!!!!

Things have been moving pretty slow on my build lately. I am doing the R&D with the new parts so the end user doesn't have to. So it is taking a little longer than it would to just call up and order the parts. I hope everyone understands that, believe me it is for everyone's best interest. I am getting closer though and hopefully will be assembling my engine soon. The intake is going to be my next hurdle and will slow things up a bit, but I want to make sure it works properly. I know it has been awhile since I posted anything here, but I am not real good at building allot of senseless hype LOL. Stay tuned here as well as on my facebook page for updates.

Thanks,
Don Johnston

thanks Don! if it wasn't for you doing the r&d we (the customer) may have a longer road to travel than you. its nice to know that in the end the products will be fully developed and tested so the customer can enjoy them sooner than they would trying to make it all work. keep up the great work on this project! I cant wait to try mine out too. thanks again Danny

Default 3 sets left

Don, approximately how many sets have you sold already and do you know of anybody who has completed a engine and dyno'd it, or made some passes. Just curious on some actual performance results with the heads.
