After looking at pictures of the parts it looked like maybe the notch orientated the bezel? It seems like there is a bit of extra room, but my fear is the two triangle shaped bosses on the base might not grab enough of the sheet metal if the holes is too large. Does anybody know the diameter of the hole, or the diameter of the threaded base?

In the picture of the fender I posted above, I can see the two imprints the bosses left in the metal when it was tightened up. Again, its just picture I found on ebay, so I don't have any details from it.

Measuring the gasket opening, it would appear the hole is 3/4 of an inch.

That helps a bunch, Thanks for measuring that! Unfortunately it confirms my fear tho. I have 3/4" top to bottom, but 1" side to side were the base should catch. I guess I'll just have to order the parts & see what I need to modify to make it work. Always something with this project.........

Maybe a fender washer with a 3/4" opening placed over the shaft before you push it thru the hole in the fender hole would help. The rubber gasket on top would hide the part of the hole that was too wide. Just thinking out loud.

Actually thats a great thought. I have a metal lathe, so I could easily make a "washer" that could fit it exactly. Thanks again!

Now I have to decide what parts to get, or kit. I am a little confused on stainless steel vs chromed copper, or round vs oval. Seems to be quite few options.

If its in the quarter, your car might have had a power antenna. Great option. In the front fender, there is a hole in the underbracing so it would be difficult to put it in the wrong place, but I suppose it could get off center within that hole, but not by much. Got picts?
