Cool Kind of confirms the last date that was 'R A' only casting

And the date that started the 'R 96 A' castings.

Unless there is better documentation?

Thumbs up Here's another set, and he's got an NOS RH long-branch manifold, too!

Somebody needs that manifold, don't they?

Default RA II GTO dash tach question

Does anyone know if RA II GTO's ordered with an in dash tach from the factory would have received a 5200 rpm tach or a 5500 rpm tach? Was a 5500 rpm dash tach available in 1968 with steel blue face?

The GTO that PHS sold at auction a few weeks ago had a tach in the instrument cluster. It was an 8k tach with redline at 5100 RPM.

I believe the redline on my RAII hood tach is the same (5100).

To answer your second question...
About a year ago there was a triple black '68 convertible Ram Air for sale online with an instrument cluster tach with 5500 redline. I have no idea if that is original or correct but it must be available somewhere. That car is the early Ram Air model that many refer to as RAI.

I would like to know myself what is the correct redline for the tachs on these cars. Maybe someone knows of a documented survivor car that has a tach and can post a photo.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. My hood tach is 5100 so that it what I was planning on using when it gets restored.
