Wow tons of post since my question. I did not put it out there as bait. Just wanted people to take an educated guess. My guess was 7.00-7.80 for the top 5.

To me that is F'ing flying. So George, there are a lot of street cars running that. I don't think as many as we everyone thinks. Chiefs new car is not a street car, but the other 4 I am talking about have lights and are registered.

Give credit where it is do. The 405 called out many people on the street and for the most part come out on top. They could not beat Kye Kelly's old pro stock car ( daddy dave beat him once) but the know how to run on the street.

The show is great to me, I was a little disappointed in Chief's car choice, but when you call out the entire USA you better be ready. He does not want to bring a knife to a gun fight!!

A bigger engine and better heads would give Chief all the power (500-1,000hp more) he would need. A Pro Mod car is cool but over kill for the street racing reality show.

HP isn't the issue, everyone on the show isn't using all the HP they can produce.

It seems logical that the definition for a "street car" would be to "meet the minimum requirements for a state license plate to hang on the car". In Ohio, this would mean one brake light, and wipers but not a heater. Radio and heater delete options were available well into the mid 1960's on many cars. To me, if I had a pro-mod type car and wanted to drive it on the street and "call it" a street car, I would scour the minimum requirements of various states until I found a really simple set of rules I could make the car fit and get a set of plates. With no standard at all, a top fuel dragster sitting on a "street" can be called a street car.

A real street car should have to pull into a gas station fill up and run a full pass all out. E85 is fair. If you have to have 2 tanks with "race fuel" in one to race, you don't have a street car, you have a race car on the street.

A couple of random comments:

The name of the show is "Street Outlaws". Outlaw means no rules, no requirements, no conformance.

Justin has found a format where he can have a good time, do what he wants and be wildly successful with a real Pontiac engine. At PRI, he drew a much larger crowd than John Force. What could be better?

I for one, am really thrilled with what a true Pontiac guy has achieved.

i don't even know if Kye Kelly tunes his own car???? but i think even chief will agree that he would never beat Kye with his 72. i don't think it's the driver or tune, i think it's the cars themselves. like they said, it's hard to compete when you're giving up 800+pds right off the bat.

but i'm sure you know of some stock suspension 3500pd cars that would smoke both of them....

I seriously doubt there is 800 pounds difference. The crow was bad ass. Pretty much a complete tube chassis with light weight body panels. Steel roof and quarters. By most standards a race car only but run on the street. It had stock body dimentions and if the wheel base was stretched it was very little. The car looked like a race version of the factory car. To me that is was what made it so cool. How many street racers have a pro mod to compete with him? Very few. To get a large group of them together may be tough to. I wish the people involved the best of luck and be safe. Im sure the writers will keep it interesting.
