A race head for a Pontiac is pretty much a well developed Warp 6 or Hemi or a billet. So... its a "street head" just as much as RA5's, tigers, hi-ports, wideports, eheads, D-ports etc.. The more you develop them the closer they get to being a race head and quite true when heavily developed they are better suited for track use than street.

There have been plenty of non CV1 "high end" combos that never proved there hype either. Plenty of 800-900 hp Tiger combos compared to the few over 1100 hp... yet we have Stockers and Super Stockers flying despite their restrictions.
There is so much more to a build than just the parts used. Few take the time to find out what makes the difference. Worse yet engine builders and head porters make suggestions and customers want to do something different instead! Yet they expect good or better results not doing what was suggested.

CV1 builds are constantly under the microscope. Most the others pretty much get a free pass.
Was a time Slowbird was doing his hi-port build and was under someones microscope. He was treated quite unfairly(which mystifies me why he has generally treated the cv1 camp the way he does, when NONE were involved in the bashin during his ordeal)
Ask Mike Leech about things that were going on behind the scenes when he pulled big numbers from his E-head combo. Established "Princes" werent happy with his team doing what they said couldnt be done. Surprised they didnt come up with a cease and desist order!
Most these same princes are same folks who told us what the CV1 could NEVER do yet has.
Curt I understand your caution...especially with the last set of heads your not happy with. If you talk with Fulton I think you are going to find he entered into CV1's with caution and found out for himself what was true or not. Dont forget same guy did his wideports as your duds. (not to mention some high dollar billets that havent shown the hype)
A set of Gaby E heads with a single four on my car at 3460# was the first to go 7.94@170 mph 4 years ago when Robin Roberts with his CV1s at 3300# was burning up Pistons trying to get in the 7s.
That's just the fact right there!

And Ken Keefer took his CV1s off and went 9.70s with a 340 cfm E head from SD over his CV1 combo that went 10.00s.
Just the facts.

And comparing Brian Hedricks E head combo to his CV1 combo isn't even a close comparison.
And don't worry Bruce I will show you what those Billets will do, just keep running your mouth!

Lil Jack,
Since you seem to want to downplay what anyone else has been doing recently. Just what have you done in the past 4 years since that run?

Lil Jack,
Sorry that that hit a nerve. But when you shovel it you should know that someone is going to shovel it back.

... ummm, the only componet Robin burned up was a couple exhaust valves, Robin Roberts never, not once hurt a piston, what you said Jack is a flat out lie, why don't you call Robin and ask him yourself ...

... and Keefer made changes to the engine that improved the performance after he went to his E Heads, one of which was a solid roller camshaft, not apples to apples Jack ...

... and the Hedrick thing, you are right about that, those E-Heads didn't stand a chance ... 140 more hp is a pretty nice jump for an unported set of heads ...

... and the last part about you calling someone on running their mouth ??? Hilarious, just hilarious, Pot MEAT Kettle ... lol

Yea, that boost wasn't even close to being the same. So u can spin it how u want.

What ever happened to that R manifold?

... man you'll stop at nothing, it's rare to witness someone so willing to lie, twist and fabricate things to the point of ridiculousness ...

... you know for a fact the owner knows the CV-1's make more power, which is exactly why he decided to stay with them ...

... and why in the world are you asking about the CVI-1R manifold ??? ... god i can only imagine ... but the true answer to your question is we sold all of them Jack, why you want one ?? ...

Saying a particular head makes more power than a E head is like saying a grown man can beat up a child. It sure as hell should because the E head is barely worthy of being on a hot-rod much less a race car motor. And stiil .......EH@TFMF. Craziness

E head is almost a direct copy of a mildly ported Ram Air IV casting, every part will interchange directly including intake gaskets, try doing that with any other manufacturers race head vs. their OE counterpart. NHRA Pro Mod takes this to a whole new level with the billet 5.0 bore center stuff. Clean sheet race stuff. Even Pro Stock has to follow some OE architecture. Knife to a gunfight is an understatement: BB gun vs. cannon

You were the one who was going to donkey stomp etc... so far you havent shown NUTHIN... As best I can tell you havent matched or beat your all time best single pass...you know damn well if even a 7.9 flat you would have found a way to tell us.
So you getting warranty work on those billet promises? Perhaps a new porter or new heads and different porter???

This HAS to be the dumbest, most off topic thread ever! But you just can't stop reading it!!! It is like a dead body or a train wreck. Trust me, NO WAY did I want to step in here. Then I came across the BS above which is not in any way fact.

Jack went on to say he "only bashes fake azz racers" while referencing me. So, to set the record straight, here are the real facts on "fake azz racers" and pistons:

For Jack to say he only bashes "fake azz racers" while using my name in the referenced context is just dead wrong on so many levels. I am 1 and 0 against Minimal Jack. In any sporting event, even racing a forfeit is a loss. I towed from AZ to Norwalk to beat him in an agreed upon race when he talked trash for years. Only to have him back down when we had made some test passes. Every pass we made was faster than his, and we were spinning the tires to half track and couldn't find the handle. What baffled me was I actually thought he was a good man, he came up to me while I was sitting in the car staged for a run and Bill was checking the tires and said (verbatim) "man that trash talk on the internet, it's just trash talk to have fun, I got nothing for you today." Respectable, I thought. We had beers that night and really angered the old man parked next to my pit (oh boy was he pissed in the morning) and we had a good time with a whole host of people. Maybe it is that people are different when you are not around? Maybe it is that some just can't keep it together when the keyboard is humming (I love my friend Bill, but I think he falls in this category and I have told him so). Maybe it is just jealousy: I got in the magazine from Norwalk and on next years Pontiac Nationals T shirt. Minimal Jack got???????????? That is fact!

Jack, never use my name and "fake" in the same context, you haven't earned the right.

Next BS: In multiple decades of nitrous use I burned 1 piston... while running Tiger heads. Let's not go there, I am not blaming and never have blamed the head. I put CV heads on 8 years ago or so and the same short block is still in the car. I did torch a valve while chasing a 7, a result of too little timing and my learning curve when I added the fogger. I have NEVER had any other issues with the engine though we made numerous passes over 170mph with a best of 175. We unfortunately never found the first 100 ft.

We had just put a 2.10 low, new converter, changed the shocks and more... then had to sit out a while while we concentrated on business and family. This summer I got the itch so we ran many full races in airport style grudge matches, raced in the Roadkill nights events on Kansas Speedway pit road and on Woodward Ave at the Woodward Dream Cruise, etc.. We had a lot of fun! We won some, we were competitive at others, I never lost a grudge race. We burned up 2 nitrous mother bottles, 2 sets of tires, and we never changed the plugs. We pulled them and put them right back in while we adjusted off of the 02s. The car is still pretty fast! But now dated. Winter is coming....

Why this head stuff is so pissy I will never know. Seems we should be happy to have so many options. Maybe I should go race a Mopar

Happy Hunting fellas! In the infamous words of Rodney King: "Can't we all just get along?"

I never called you a fake azz racer or insuated that you were one. I don't know where you came up with this.

We went 8.30s two weeks before Norwalk and I changed the front springs and threw the chassis all out sort and therefore said I could not race you.
Party on.
