There is a small spring on the latch. There is no spring to hold it open or closed. As far as I know, you need a new latch if the spring is missing.

The latch has a small spring that returns it to the up position when you release the button.
When the button is pushed is the latch supposed to stay in the down position till you close the door ?? Now when I push the button the latch releases but I'm holding the door closed by pushing the button. When I release the button the latch returns to the up position and the door is latched close. The only way to open the door is to pull it open while holding the button in. So I guess the latch should stay in the open position till the door is closed. Correct ??? So I need a new latch ?? Thanks, Larry |
