The top of my old springs are flat as well as where it sits inside the frame. It appears to me when looking at new springs on various sites that one end is not flat. I've never seen insulators on front springs...only rears. Bottom part locks into a notch...and again...I do not recall any "clocking" or locating set-up on the top of the springs. I could be wrong...but that's what I remember. Maybe someone wth a Fisher Body Manual can help.

The flat side goes up. The bottom end of the coil lines up with the drain hole on the lower control arm.
