The OP said he wanted to know what the fastest Pontiac was, not quickest but fastest, which indicated top speed as opposed to acceleration. There was no caveat regarding traditional-era or otherwise. Modified cars would make the discussion meaningless. So, we are left with 100% percent stock cars in factory trim, down to the tires, jetting and timing or computer tune. Am I missing something?

the thing i find interesting is that the OP (RossGN) hasn't posted again since starting the thread. from that point forward, it has been a game of speculation on what he meant by 'fastest'. i've found the info in this thread interesting, but i don't think anyone here knows exactly what the OP meant and what he was looking for specifically.

Does anybody even trust the posted time for 60-70's Muscle cars?
I sure don't, some were prepped/tuners, others were slugs so out of tune that barely idle properly much less run at full bore. Also the driver has a lot to do with the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. |

But hey ya'll, it's still been an interesting discussion, especially concerning the Musclecars from Pontiac's "Glory Days".
And, it makes you think of what could have been, like forged rod RA4's, high compression, forged rod, 041 cam 455HO's, and high compression 041 cam SD455's.
