Well, not the way I meant it. I meant it in a way, that he should prove that they are hands down a better head. Go kick some butt.
He shown that he could out run his 400cfm E heads with the same cam as with his standard wide ports. Did not give them a fair shot IMO.
Ran faster, know of mid 7.60 pass and maybe a 7.56. But he ran a 7.71 with E heads. Who is to say that if he had given the new 400cfm WPs a real effort, new cam and trying to maximize the combo he could not have gotten the tenth-tenth and a half gain from the CVs ? Not a lot of gain for all the money it "should" have cost him. Bet they were a freebee.
E heads are a great head for the vast majority of racers. Can make 1100HP + without huge effort. Racers don't have a hard time keeping plugs in them, or worse. Great engines hit the same every hole.
A few have stepped up to some of the billet heads. Make more power, sure. But not "that" much more really. 100HP-250HP for multiple "tens" of thousands of dollars more.
Hey, if you can afford it that is awesome. Great to be you.
But the money I am hearing for the top ends, is just nuts, bonkers crazy for what your get back for almost everyone but a few.
But George, myself being a NA guy people are starting to go your direction. Put a blower, centrifugal or turbo on it. Cheaper in the long run.

Don’t forget he was 100 lbs heavier with the cv heads.....that’s pretty darn good with a head change. Eheads are a good starter head but KRE HP is a better bang for your buck!
Blower cheaper, HAH........build one first then see how cheap it is! It don’t cost much to run 20’s.....seriously, go make some HP!

KRE High Ports are the better head (have both) Still, one has yet to beat Mike L.
Shows how underrated the E head is and just how good Mike, Marcella and S Brown were together.

If Langer says he is going boost because even "he" can not afford it anymore, I will take him at his word. 5K for a weekend. I spend 200$. Heard he has several sets of 500$+ pac springs in his pit. Checks them every run. Expensive game.

I pay less for methanol, then add cinnamon flavor. Now that's a good smell!

Let's be clear. I never said I could not afford na racing anymore. There is more bang for the buck and more venues to race at with a power adder.

Fact---
Langer's budget for Beer at the races exceeds most peoples race program budget.

Got to keep those body systems flushed out.

What Langer does with his money................
is John Langer's business.

Not the best choice of words John. But your info opened my eyes on just how expensive the high end NA game is.
Unaffordable to most. Can not wait to see what you come up with. You set the bar at the top with your NA effort.
Quite certain you can afford whatever engine you want. You have never been one of those check writers who does not know what they are talking about.

In several different threads and posts you have said how it's so much cheaper to build a power adder combo. I find that laughable.
When we're talking about max effort combos here not street stuff power adders cost as much if not more! Max effort combos require quite a few "one off" items you just don't build one with off the shelf chit. If it was so much cheaper and affordable don't you think everyone would be doing it.
Talk about things you have first hand knowledge of not what so and so told you.

Care to share how much your top end cost ? How much power does Chief have, how much did his cost. Bet it was 1/4 of what yours did.

Hey man, if you got the money, great, god bless you. How much power do you think you could have made with your best I knew of, 420cfm E heads ? Far better than Justins. You have the biggest centrifugal there is.
Awesome car by the way. What classes do you race it in ?

What is the valve spring like on a high effort NA engine with a 1.1"-1.2" lift cam ? How often do you have to check them ? Pac springs for my junk to be 450$. How much are those springs ?
That is the kind of thing I was referring to. People now are building turbo stock block/head combos that are running 9s and driving to the track. Do that with a aftermarket block and a decent used set of heads can make 1600+ HP and still drive it. You dont have to spin them to the moon either. 8000+RPM NA engines are cubic dollar destroyers. No fancy pans, dry sump, billet pistons, 1500$ring packs, 8 counterweight cranks either.
Common sense dictates things, nature dictates things.
None of it is inexpensive. Its like you are trying to money shame me or something. It takes 2 guys to fund "your" car.(but you get the brown end of the stick) If you want to tell us all about your "one off" things to make yourself feel like a big shot, knock yourself out.
But I do not think for one second you had to pay 30K+ for a one off top end to make your power. Could have done it with Dons RAV heads and a F3. Chump change comparatively.
Don't big shot me because you got money. You work hard and all and can spend it how you like. Just trying to figure out your deal. Give hard earned money and time to a car you don't own, don't get to take down the track. But he "lets" you be the online guy, brag about it and show pics.
That's a great deal. I find it laughable.
Tell you what, nobody is going to run my timing up right in front of me and burn my engine up.
