It's amazing how every time George get's called on racing anyone he already has a reason as to why he'll probably lose.
Less engine, more weight, low Boost, etc... the list goes on and on and on. At some point it becomes an excuse, not a reason.

It’s more important that he said he’s running the CV-1 heads when he gets them, now the haters can stop hating! He is stepping up!
So someone owes someone $50! LOL! GTO George |

The engine in my car now is the same engine i’ve had for years. I recently ordered a new block and same e head combo up top, just to have new castings (mine are pretty wore out lol) and with the schedule we have nowadays i have always been a little worried about not having a spare engine to swap out, in case i get a little wild with the loud pedal. The new engine is a little smaller in order to fit some of the bigger payout class rules should i ever choose to class race it.

George is in denial because of the space the e heads are taking up in his head ..

Race engines are just like women. Some prefer blondes, some brunettes and us Pontiac guys like the fat red headed step child sitting in the corner. People have gone fast with cast iron, Wensler, e-heads of various configurations, tigers, kre's, 5's and visner. There is no reason why someone won't eventually go fast with the cv's. I believe chief will be that guy. As long as it is on a 10-head bolt 4.620 bore space block, who cares. The boosted Pontiac around 480" isn't much different then the 480" small block with the exception of weight. They both have their pros and cons. There is no reason why chief can't run with or ahead of the million dollar teams on the street. Like he said, it is all about tuning what you got, on that day, on that street. chief, good luck with your program moving forward with what ever direction you choose to go with it. You are waving the flag for the Pontiac community gaining us exposure that shows manufacturers that we have a hardcore base for them to continue producing new and exciting parts that benefit all of us.

With him getting new bullets of the same caliber as we speak, its a time thing now. I have always wondered why he did not step up to at least a garden variety E head wide port. If you read what he posted, reliability if first and foremost, power is secondary. WPs have offset rockers and they do break. Non offset stuff is very reliable with simple geometry, tough, reliable. And if he has plenty of power to compete as is I think its tough for him to change. The old engine has brought him where he is today and still running strong as ever. You can see a part of him likes beating the best of the best with his basic, if you want to call it that, old school Pontiac. He takes great pride in doing so much of the hard stuff, tuning ect himself. I take pride in as doing as much as I can myself. And you know George, you saying he did not say a lot is somewhat derogatory. He does not post much and it took effort for him to take the time to post and tell us things he does not have to. Thankful he did. Said plenty and more if you can read between the lines. You even got a mention, of the world without capitol "g". Right now, same heads, smaller ci. Downgrading it seems. |

I actually feel pretty important I suppose!
![]() Heck if I had a dollar for every time I was wrong, I’d retireded an year earlier BUT then again if I had a dollar for every time I was right I’d retired 2 years earlier! LOL! I never not rooted for him....I’m a Pontiac racer, just took the info I had (from the show) and went with it. besides i defended him and Pontiac a bunch of times on Facebook......like I said “Pontiac”!GTO George |

Smaller likely means less stroke and more rpm. (There are plenty of good reasons...get Quillen's thoughts on that if you don't want to trust me) Bigger CSA heads means more flow at same boost means more HP.(and yes Bill is a top notch head Porter ask his peers.) More RPM means more HP. Valvetrain stability is critical at 9000+ rpm. An offset setup like wideport isn't neutral like cv1. Anyone thinking cv1 is downgrading in any way needs to look again and quit believing the haters. Last edited by BruceWilkie; 06-18-2018 at 05:33 PM. |

Naw, Chief is just a DMFK street racer, he knows nothing. Do you really think the clowns here would know?
