Happy new year Dan! Well yes there were a total of 6 remove/installs but two of them were the perfromabuilt's that one made it a couple of miles and smoked and the second dropped a valve supposedly in it's maiden voyage about 15 miles into the test trip, had to limp home in 2nd gear.

Sounds just like the TCV cable was not adjusted properly and/or the carb did not have the critically necessary angle correction cable brackets.

Only way I know of to kill a 700 that quick. It doesn't take horsepower or torque to do that. Hell, a 4 cylinder Toyota would kill it if the TCV cable was not working properly. But then, I'm sure Performabuilt told you that. I'm guessing they did not warranty a 3rd tranny.

B.T.W.: I have heard this happening dozens of times and its always the TCV cable not being adjusted properly and no tranny shop will warranty a tranny that was not properly installed. Everybody thinks that TCV cable is a kick-down cable.... its NOT.

I can assure you it wasn't the cable adjustment or bracket set up. I'm more than familiar with how those tranny's needed to be installed and set up (TCV cable is stupid simple to adjust properly as I'm sure you know). Besides, I'd been running the 700R4 for many years prior to trying a Performabuilt which were the 3rd and 4th tranny in the car for a short period of time. I tried those guys at recommendations on this forum when the 2nd one failed post my current motor build. I was damned if I would use those clowns again, we settled.
