Sounds just like the TCV cable was not adjusted properly and/or the carb did not have the critically necessary angle correction cable brackets.
Only way I know of to kill a 700 that quick. It doesn't take horsepower or torque to do that. Hell, a 4 cylinder Toyota would kill it if the TCV cable was not working properly. But then, I'm sure Performabuilt told you that. I'm guessing they did not warranty a 3rd tranny.
B.T.W.: I have heard this happening dozens of times and its always the TCV cable not being adjusted properly and no tranny shop will warranty a tranny that was not properly installed. Everybody thinks that TCV cable is a kick-down cable.... its NOT.
