Just my $.02 but it's hard enough to get a valve cover with 4 bolts to seal up. An oil pan with badly deformed rails is that much harder. Order an OEM replacement oil pan with tab slots and a new BOP one-piece gasket and do it right.

Dry fit your oil pan with gasket first to check for windage tray interference (oil pan bolts won't star on both sides). In some cases, you can loosen the windage tray bolts and "center" the windage tray as the mounting bolt holts are slightly oversize and the tray may have "walked" to one side when the builder was tightening it down. If that doesn't work, you'll have to "peen" the windage tray for oil pan bolt access. A tap with a hammer and a drift at each oil pan bolt hole is sometimes required.

Degrease and scuff all the gasket surfaces and glue the gasket to the pan making sure you have sealed the outside corners of the rails where the gasket surface follows the contours of the main cap and timing cover. Apply sealant to the block only to the inside corners and up and over rear main and the inside corners where the block and timing cover meet.

In the long run, you'll be glad you spent the time and money to do a first-class installation.

Thats what i did the other day, stopped off at Wades house, hes about a hour away, got another one piece gasket...............we took two of his repo pans and mine , put a straight edge over them,my pan is about a 1/4 smaller in front...............and on my car that is very close to the center link, so to use the other pans i would have to dent them up some in the front................Wade ordered me a canton pan, will measure when he gets that.

Ames says they have the correct pan that will fit but it doesnt have a baffle.........but on the website it says almost all the pans they have will need to be indented........so im not sure how many pans im gonna have to buy to find something that fits.

I also bought new motor mounts from ames, so maybe that might raise the motor up some and help with the issue...........i know you can but spacers for the frame mounts, im wondering how much this would mess with your trans , pinion angle measurments.

Just buy charles canton pan if it will fit in your gto! You'll need the pickup too tho, so maybe just get a a stock one?

Mine originally had a chrome Moroso deep sum with baffle. The PO had the pan on and off so many times (multiple spun bearing incidents) that the metal was soft around the bolt holes. A slight tug of the socket wrench just deformed the rails. When I rebuilt the motor, I threw the pan out and found a good deal on a Milodon low profile with the side kickouts. The matching pickup bolted to a main cap. Installed it with a BOP one-piece gasket as I outlined and never leaked a drop again.

Hey Darb, whats up................i havent contacted charles yet, looking to see what happens with the pan Wade ordered..............on Charles pan, i read, early gto, but i see alot of for F body only............right now i have the precesion pump with the melling pic up...........cant use that in a canton pan.........another new part to get........lol

Hey, thanks for the numbers.............just got off the phone with Wade he ordered a 15-389 pan from canton...........that is even higher in front then the pan he sells...........strange..................stopping there tomorrow, will look them over since i have to hammer them to death anyways..............the other option is the ames pan which they say is the excate same as oem..............oh boy..............will try to call ames and see if they can measure one of those pans in front.............im losing more money on shipping sending stuff back lately. lol

Im wondering if i have some issue with my frame, cant believe people with 66/67 are buying these oil pans and not having issues.................

Hoping this works out ok.
