Mike, Here is the routing on '69 350 HO, but it should be the same as any V8 A-body w/o RA manifolds. The original cable sheathing is pretty long and extends through the tube down to the solenoid and could provide protections from the steering shaft. The original plastic retainer strap can be seen in the first photo with the dual quad set-up.

Looks like the engineers used a sheath to reduce risk. I'll try and find something similar. Appears your clearance is about the same as mine so it's just the way it is. It's not a great design but must have been good enough! Mike |

Apparently not easy to find something durable.
Anyone know a source for Kevlar/aramid braided sheathing by the foot? Most of it appears to be PET or polypropylene which won't hold up as well. Mike |
