Baron, Yes the 1966 OHC 6 SPRINT is the 1st Pontiac to utilize the Q-Jet.

Add to that, CALIFORNIA tags got a square center hole while FEDERAL tags got a round hole.

Parts Place would do better to make those discs in natural finish , and probably round holes would cover more of the market correctly.

The square hole could be drilled round I suppose.

The original round disc on the '67 I sold last fall looked more red to me, but the chart called it orange. And by the looks of it when removed, I doubt that it ever had a can a carb cleaner touch it. Lol

How do you decode the carb number and color? It is by application? For instance base engine/3-speed, base engine/4-speed, etc through Ram Air or is it by engineering change level, or is it by production date? I'd like to check my Q-Jet to see if is correct. Thanks.

For 67 carbs they follow the block code application.

Firebirds had their own block/carb codes to themselves.
Sprint 6 carbs are in that list too (Abody & Fbody codes)

49 State GTO and 428 cars used
7027262 Auto - all
7027263 Manual - all

The colored tags were probably done to aid assembly line workers from mixing them all up.
Each application got its own color.
