What type of car? I deal with first gen GTO's and have never seen a magnet in there. Never seen any metal shavings that would even stick to a magnet. They're either clean as a whistle or blown up with chunks too big for a magnet!

75 TA. There were filings of metal on the magnet. They were hardly visible, but could be felt by touch.

My recommendation would be a 2 part adhesive such as JB weld. I've used that stuff for some pretty unusual situations in automotive applications, it's nver failed.
