I tried to zoom on the cowl tag but couldn't read it. The article says that it was built in September 1963. Since that was so early in production, it could have been that not many were being built so early. It may have taken some time to get traction to ultimately get the production to the 32K for 1964. We remember that the initial expectation was that Pontiac would only sell 5,000 GTOs in 1964.

Does anyone know what it sold for? I couldn’t find it on the Saratoga auction site.
