Skip, I also have the new bathtub that I was thinking of using on my 65 GTO. A few years back my friend had the intake off his 65 GTO engine so I took the opportunity to test fit my bathtub on his car. He only had one Edelbrock carb so we put the manifold on his motor and set the carb in the front position. With the hood closed and looking through the open scoop you could see the choke tower was about 1/2” lower than the bottom of the scoop. Not much room for air cleaners although I’m sure with a little creativity you could get something to work. I don’t think any kind of carb spacers would work if you want to use air cleaners. On a race motor without air cleaners you probably could use spacers under the carbs and still close the hood. Either way the carbs a close to the sheet metal of the hood. I’m currently in the process of building a 421 for my 65 GTO. For now I decided to go with a Tri-Power, but in the future I still might try the bathtub.
