I'm thinking about buying a 2004 after checking area (Western NY) dealers. At the 20 dealers within a 70 mile radius of my house there is about 100 in stock. GM is mow offering $2000 rebate and combined with my GMS discount I can buy one for 27,845. Couple grand more in rebates and it will be priced right. Just picked up a Envoy as a daily driver and the wife got a new GP/GT2 as a driver in April but this is getting too good to pass up. Would make a nice companion to my 64. How are prices in other parts of the country??

I've certainly seen plenty of ads for 5k off MSRP. If there are any dealers still holding on to the thought that this car is going to sell @ or above MSRP, they are crazy. The model year is OVER, and the calender year is soon to be history. How many 04's remain unsold as of right now? 30-40% of the 18k allotment? There are better deals yet to come. I mean what are they going to do, send them back to OZ?

They are now selling though, this may be it for the incentives. Hard to say if we'll see any additions but I would give it another month or so. You may have to take what is available though where as now you can pretty much still get whatever color/tranny you want.

My next door neighbor just bought a new 2004 last weekend for 25k here in Nebraska. These cars are not moving like they thought and he said he just kept walking torward the door until they came down. I also know that new car dealers are really hungry the last week of the month to hit numbers to show the banks. 25k is as low as I have seen, this will kill the second hand market. I went for a ride in it and it is fast and nice, but they could have done alot more to make it more retro looking.

For me, the more realistic price point overcomes my aesthetic values. There is a lot wrong with the car for it to go out the door for more than 30k. There are also a lot of good things, so when you start seeing them for 25k and under, more will sell, despite the uninspired looks. I'm probably a fairly representative potential buyer; I'll consider one, but it will go out the door for under 25k with 0% for at least 60 mo... and I think the car is ugly. Not Asstick ugly mind you, but a real yawn at best.

Just sort of ugly aye? I think you should stick with a Rustang. Ugly cars, even sort of ugly cars, don't get looks like this car does.

Just checked and incwentives are currently being updated...drum roll please...

That MIGHT push me over the edge. I could have had $5700 off GMS but I would have lost $4000 of that because of being upside down on my current car/trade in. $3500 rebate and $1200 in GM Card savings. I doubt the GM Card will have an additional $1000 off this month.

Recent advertised prices here in the Detroit metro area are in the $24,800 range. This includes all rebates and GM employee discounts.

Buy now or wait? You can buy now for right around invoice and have pretty good selection. Ask the dealer for a couple of $500 Instant Value Certificates and save an additional grand. Wait and maybe get a better deal, but on a yellow automatic. Fine if that's what you want. What will be interesting to watch is number of cars sold in September and number of cars still on the lots plus number of 04's still inbound. I don't expect incentives to get any worse, but if sales are strong in September, and the Pontiac bean counters think they can sell the rest of the 04's at the current rebate levels, then waiting just means you get stuck with the leftovers. My completely uneducated guess is that they will sell around 1500 in Sept and have about 3000-3500 left. That would take about 2-3 months and concide nicely with the 05 arrivals in December. Just a SWAG.

p.s. there isnt a car around that comes close to this car for under 30k. i KNOW i will be kicking myself in the ass for not taking advantage of this sick deal, but its just not possible for me now, even though i testdrove the one i'd buy and drool on it. and i was very disappointed when the car first came out, but theres nothing a slp hood and true duals can't fix. except maybe a civic

You the man Nick, looks great.
There is a duck tail available but you still have to fill the holes. Someone is coming out with a ducktail that fits the existing holes or at least covers them up so you don't have to fill.
Starting to feel a little lonely GH? You should...

One of my local dealers has a red/black M6 on the floor with some aftermarket "upgrades" to the tune of 4k added to the price. In addition to the 68-70 style hood, Borla exhaust, and chrome wheels, it has a ducktail. This spoiler covers the existing holes, and may even pick them up as mounting points, but overall the effect does not work for me. To add insult, the raised portion of the hood (peak and scoops) was painted black. The overall effect was more GheTtO than GTO.
Anyway, I think the spoiler is manufactured by the same people who did the hood (DJS, or something...).
