I have a bunch of "dirty pictures" of my tripower carbs before & during the rebuild including pictures of each carb from all angles sitting on the bench. If anyone is interested I can email them but there's too many to post here.
Chris's pictures of the complete setup on the manifold is about as nice as you can ask for. I tried to include a couple pictures here of the carbs during disassembly showing how incredibly simple the Rochester 2bbl carbs are inside. Unfortunately, the files are too big but will try to trim them down so I can post them. I'm no tripower expert but I had no trouble rebuilding them using a good quality rebuild kit (from CarbKing) and they actually worked when I put them on my new motor http://kurtspontiac.homestead.com/TimSimpson66GTO.html |

No for Petesake ! LOL
The advance hose goes to a brass nipple at the rear of the center carb. Here is a pic of the carbs and you can clearly see the nipple. It is available repro from PY - Jim Doran -Some Pics of my 65

I love the idea of technical articles and a repository of Pontiac or general Car knowledge which many people here have lots of!

I was under the impression that the vac advance was connected to the hollow carb stud. That's what I did with my '66.

I believe the hollow carb stud is used for the console mounted vacuum gauge when installed.
Here is a pic from one of the pontiac restorers online ordering. CCass, my preferred supplier did NOT have a picture; - Jim Doran -Some Pics of my 65

Tim:
Can you send me a picture of the drivers side showing where the vacuum advance hooks up? Thanks Peter |

Chris,
You're a prince amoung men. I've got a '66 tri-power with no power accessories. Because I've "upgraded" to 4 wheel disks I decided I had to go to an aftermarket power setup. (UPS delivered it today), but I hadn't paid attention on where the vacuum hose went on PB Tri-powers. Checked your posting and there, in the last picture, was the answer for the question I hadn't even asked yet. Do you also moonlight for the Psychic Hotline? |

Thanks for the pics guys. It looks like the vacuum advance goes to the front of the rear carb. Is this correct for a 65?
Thanks Pete |

I see. Thanks again for the info. Now if i could get enough snow away from the garage I could put it together and try it. Pete |
