[Option 382]

Might be the lowest mile 65 known but you can't prove it looking at the pictures. Asking $265,000 and zero cents. Car is not mine.

Look at those magazine article pictures of the engine. If you had an original 1,300 mile car, why would you repaint the engine? Engine bay looks a little to shiny to me, and I think the package tray should be parchment to match the interior, not black.

(I'm being overly harsh on the guy - "I want appraised value" is just crazy.)

I found the article that this car was featured in. It was ordered with a heavy duty radiator, so that is why the filler cap is on the tri-pwr side. It also states a white pinstripe was unavailable on red 65s so how did he get one? The buyer asked the dealer to plead his case to Pontiac for a white pinstripe.

Based on my books of info a red car with parchment interior came standard with a white pinstripe.

Another claimed to be an Original super low mileage 65. At least this one has the correct tail panel bezel.

For a GTO of this calibur and asking price they should have a professional do the photos (and more of them) and text!

PHS is mandatory regardless of mileage.

FYI - Red on Parchment did come with a White pinstripe as the photos below show on a legit 39,000 mile Original.
Also the package tray would have been black for glare reasons.

I will say it's refreshing to see a 4BBL. (didn't know they made any) with that correct long aluminum fuel line.

I did make note that it was a Pontiac Michigan built car, relatively high VIN (338818).

That could be germain to your any pinstripe observations you may make.

Looks like the car at the 2000 Nats in Columbus. Pulled it off the enclosed trailer, let the judges look it over and right back in the trailer. If I remember it did not get Gold survivor because of the undercoating the dealer put on when new. For $265k, wouldn't you expect at least a tripower ?

I like the dealer's statement "we decided to move it 'quickly' for $265,000." Sure.

To me, the obvious underhood detailing kills it. I know it may look better, but it kills the originality. I've owned a 1700 mile original car that was stored indoors all it's life, and the engine compartment had faded down with the engine block flaked off and rusted in areas. This is what I expect to see. Looks like a 60-70k on the best of days in my book, but what do I know?

I really wouldn't expect the original battery after all these years. But for that price you would think they could at least afford one that looked original.

Another observation,

Scroll down to the magazine article pics and you can see white firewall markings and what looks to be a caution fan decal with a corner missing.

Now in the auction pics the firewall looks to be missing those priceless markings and the caution fan is probably now a repro sticker.

As Jerry said above, this detailing / painting under the hood has killed the originality it may have had. Sad.

Since I have the hard copy of this article I have better pictues. The firewall had 218 B painted on the firewall. Now it's gone.

Everyone is allowed to have a dream... With that said, a $265K asking price, maybe someone will come along and knock it down to $110K and think they got the deal of the century.
I'm not sure why they messed with this car if the quality of it matched the low miles, but as we have all seen. Low miles does not always equal preserved.
