Thanks... the car is going into the body shoop this week for "cancer" treatment. The current matte paint is a driveway rattle can job (Krylon Enamel). When I get it back it will still be matte black, but it will be a thick and smooth spray gun coat. I never thought I would keep the car that color... but after doing it in the driveway I fell in love with the look and have gotten way too many compliments about how mean the car looks.

Matte Black with professional Gloss Black stripes on the hood scoops and matching on the trunk with white pinstriping outlining the gloss stripes... I may even go so far as to get ghost checkers or flames in the stripes. That will be the final look for this car.

Nice job! quite a transformation. But I hope the zip ties holding that very expensive radiator are very temporary. That rad is pretty heavy when full of fluid.

JAndro, that is one nice looking ride brother, however I wished I had it that easy when I started mine. Take a look..http://community.webshots.com/user/murphs314
I know there are others out there much worse but man. The only thing I dont show in my pics is what the 400 looked like with the stretched timing chain and field mice having made nests throughout the entire car, to include a nest I found when I pulled the valley pan.

Jandro remove those plastic ties asap.As the radiator heats up it will melt them, regardless of car speed. What about the stock 69 firebird retainer plate. It should work with slight modification(ex. 90 degree 1/8 stock welded/bolted to lip of plate, brace top of radiator, mark holes on top core support and drill for 3 small self tapping screw). This just an idea from the pic.Others with similar f-bodies may have a better.By the way,SWEEEET looking car and engine. Roger.

well after 800 hits here and several more on other sites, I'm sure the server couldn't take it anymore lol... I'll put it up again later.

Thanks everyone again... currently the car hasn't been driven really at all. I have it sitting waiting for the radiator support problem to be fixed whenever I get around to it and the weather in Macon clears up. When I get it taken care of I'll show you better pictures .

Jandro

Jandro - The radiator is 27" by 19" with 22.5" of fins. The fan shroud is 22" by 19" and fits like a glove. I bought mine at the link below for about $149. I used an adjustable thermostat and a Ford starter solenoid. It knocks about 100 rpm out of my idle when it kicks on but it pulls some serious air through the radiator.

Rock Auto Parts

EnergyFX - Love that Formula. If you come to Eglin I'll loan you some slicks. That car needs to be in the 7's.

Nice job. However, I suggest changing that air cleaner . I went from something around that size to a 14" unit and it made a BIG difference in power and operating RPM.

Jandro,

Your car is looking good, and it looks like you are having fun with that S/S fan. Wait until you start to drive that car, all that work will turn into pride when your friends see it. First thing I noticed was the tie wraps securing the radiator. Dont drive it like that, it should be OK for start-up and break-in maybe. What do you have it sitting on in that pic? On my 1969 Firebird the radiator is bolted to the core support, via flanges that are soldered to the each side of the radiator. You could weld flanges to the aluminum radiator and bolt it on the same way.
