I hadn't logged any posts for about a year due to boredom from idiots such as yourself. I jumped on again when press releases on the 05 started showing up again.

>>> So you don't lose any sleep over this I'll repeat it since you can't read. Perhaps I should write this in crayon so you can understand: My post referencing that in my opinion 1970 was the last good year for the GTO and only with an endura bumper was in reference to the growing trend of people attempting to sell a LeMans or a "Jury" as a GTO. The Jury was a LeMans outfitted by a dealer and MILDLY (aka holding their nose) endorsed by Pontiac as a poor mans version to the Judge. A growing number of unscrupulous sellers attempt to sell these as GTOs. Given that you are such an expert on GTOs I would have thought you would have known this. Get over it. Nobody cares about this topic anymore except you.

So mr_gto, the ls1-ls2 is based on what engine?
What engine do these variants of the same engine share their bore spacing with?
Your saying the ls1-ls2 are brand new designs? Fill me in on its ancestors. I'm sure you know.

I think I speak for everyone who likes the
new GTO when I am wondering just what your
GTO judging credentials are Mr. Whatza Monaro.
Please list for us your credentials, i.e. how
many years you worked with Jim Wangers, How many
decades you have driven a GTO, how many perfect scores you have received at POCI and GTOAA, etc.
How many books and magazines yourawesome vintage GTO's
have appeared in. Please publish your credentials so we can give you the respect you so obviously desire.

I wasn't aware one needed a resume to purchase a GM Monaro. However to satisfy your curiosity I've owned three GTOs: a 66 Convertible, 68, and a 70. I still have the 70. Have had it for 30 years. It's well worn and I hope to someday restore it. I've also owned a 67 Firebird, a 69 Charger R/T, a 69 Chevelle SS ( my first car ) and a screamin little 63 Ford Falcon with a 302 in it. As a kid my neighbor had a AA Blown Alcohol Funny Car and my buddies and I would fequently tag along and "help out". Curently my daily driver is a 1994 BMW 740i with 200k miles on it. I was hoping to trade it in for a 2004 GTO but Pontiac and the geniuses at Beavis and LutzHead chose not to build one. I also have a 1998 C5 Convertible 'Vette which I will keep until I die. As far as getting any of your respect: I could care less.

1. pontiac ? last time i checked they stopped making them (motors) in the late 70's.
2.what body would i put it in ? i bet it would have sold better in a aztec or montana.
3. if i wanted handleing i would look at something awd. such as a EVO VIII. all wheel turbo that will run low 13's/high 12's (depending if you talk to real owners or read magazines) and handle better then the new GTO. i can guarantee i wouldnt do any kind of road racing in my 69. but then again i didnt/wont plan on it.

Motors yes, cars no.
2. Yea, right. Stupid comments when you know you're wrong.
3. So go buy one and stop bitching like a girl.

2. its obvious they cant sell them in the body it is in now. i bet by the end of the year i could walk into a delership and throw down $20,000 cash and say i want that car and i bet theyd take it because they can barely give them away. hows that for sales ?
3. i wouldnt buy one because im not into imports. it wouldnt mind the expierence of what a AWD turbo feels like. (especially one that is faster then the new GTO in the 1/4)
id hold out for the 05 gto if i was in the market for a new chevy. since it has a pontiac badge with a chevy motor and australlian car does that really make it a pontiac ?

Ls2 is based off the LS1 family of engines. Wow, you are going to compare the old style Chevy small block to the GM Vortec family based on bore spacing alone? LOL
I guess you still couldn't find a site on GM's website where it said "CHEVROLET V8" uh? LOL
Troll, you couldn't remember what it was but yet you could remember to tell someone somewhere on this board in some thread, hmmmm...good story. Grow some gonads and go over to LS2.com and we'll have some real debates. So what was your username again?

Don't know what that bump is on the hood, but the '04's seem to fear it. And yes, it is a street legal car when the rear tires get changed to the M/T Streets.......

Where is it obvious until you try it? If you are so bright and have $20,000 cash, go do it. Right now I have a standing offer to me for $25,899 for a 04 with a Ram Air hood and chrome wheels. Want the dealers name?
Oh, you're not into imports but you bring them up to make a point...I see how it is.
let me know when a import is running 12.9's because that is what the 05 GTO is running.
AGain, I'll find me a GM website where it says Chevrolet V8. Otherwise STFU about it being a Chevy V8 because obviously you have ZERO clue of what you are talking about.
Pontiac says it is a POntiac. Pontiac said the Bauemont was a Pontiac too. Going to tell me it wasn't? Pontiac said your fathers Firehawk was a Pontiac. It was made the same place the Bauemont was.

I never told anybody on this board what my original user name was. I told them what I told you...and told you to go find it...and you were stupid enough to try. Pathetic. My original user name was red70goat or something like that. There, that should keep you busy for a few hours.

I've directed my nephew and many others to your '65 site on the right way to do a build up on a vintage Goat. Bad ass ride dude.

This thread is just as pathetic as the one in the lobby about the 05 Mustang, which AGAIN turned into a hate fest about the new GTO.
Funny **** man. Too funny.
While some of you guys continue to argue I will go into my garage and admire my Pontiacs for awhile.
CY all later!

A standing offer of $25,899? Why don't you buy the car that you so adamately support? Especially since it is ABOUT $10,000 less than what most people PROBABLT paid for theirs. (no wonder they defend it so fiercely)

mr-gto, the rest of the world including GM, as evidenced by the 1st web site posted in my earlier thread recognizes the lineage of the ls1 and ls2 engines. It is not a fresh design as your smoke screen replies have tried to make it out to be. You have a tendancy to leave out anything that would make you look wrong. Thats OK. GM couldn't celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Chevy small block if the ls1 and ls2 weren't around. As they themselves noted on the GM web site. I have proved my point whether you care to admit or not. Next thing you'll come up with is that it isn't a Chevy based motor because it not painted red.

Once again, all 1970 GTO's had the Endura bumper - it was standard equipment from 1969 - 1972.
The Jury was a 350 ci 2bbl carbed LeMans, not a GTO. Just to remind you, the smallest engine availble in a GTO in 1970 was a 400 ci 4bbl.
The Jury "package" was some show and very little go.
Only a fool would have ever been confused to think that the silver blue LeMans with the chrome bumper, Judge spoiler, hood pins, bumblebee stripes (like the Charger Super Bee), and a 350 ci 2bbl motor was a GTO.
Stampede Pontiac-Buick in Calgary modified 26 LeMans' this way, doesn't make any of them a GTO. If you look at the vin, it will start with 237 (LeMans) not 242 (GTO)
Have a nice day, whatza jury...

Doesn't sound like you have much of an ACTUAL GTO Left! I would prefer to drive a real GTO, as Pontiac ordered it built, including my '04.
