OK My Judge is WT1 stamped! Is it one of 442, or one of 242, not that it really matters, I love the car! Being stamped on the data plate as WT1, and a number 1 in the vin means that it is canadian built, not canadian destined correct. I have a three page documention on the car from GMoC, plus assembly line vins with options 10 cars prior and 10 cars after
mine. CDN2PL2 if I supplied you with my info would it help your research. |

On the subject of production numbers. Is there a source for 70 Judge RA IV numbers. I would like to know how many were equipped with auto trans. I know 140 for all GTO's of that how many were Judge's.

288 Judges were built in Oshawa Ontario in 1970
Fred Simmons documented this years ago. All GTO's including Judges had option codes stamped into Firewall tag.The Fisher body plant did this for modifications beyond the norm for any options needing special body modifications ie D55 console (Fisher had to weld brackets on to floor ,M21 (they had to cut floor shift hole in floor,WT1 hole in firewall for RAMAIR cable. I live in Ontario and currently own an Oshawa built 70 GTO Judge that has D80 for spoiler, M21 for close ratio Muncie 4 speed because my car is a 3:90 rear axle car D55 for console and WT1 for Judge option Regards, Rich Johns

Hi.. Im just wondering where Fred Simmons got those numbers from? That "288" of the "442" 1970 GTO's built in Oshawa Ontario were 1970 GTO Judges. One thing for sure things sure get interesting with GTO's..
I only have a 3" x 2" rectangle piece of my build sheet left!! It was eaten by a vermin that decieded to live in my back seat and make a nest out of it too!! 1970 OO Cowl Plate http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...6&d=1159298668 Pete Stack

Oshawa built 288 Judges in 1970 NOT 442
The 442 # is the total # of 70 Judges Sold NEW in Canada in 1970 not the actual production of the Oshawa assembly plant.GM of Canada records every car regardless of where it was built as recorded total # sold new in Canada. The balance of 154 Judge cars are probably 50 RAIV Judge cars built from Pontiac head plant because Oshawa only built RAIII Judges and the other 100 or Judges are from other assemble plants in USA ie Freemont California is a lot closer to the western provinces of BC and Alberta than Oshawa. I hope this clarifies the #'s for everyone. Fred Simons is correct 288 Judges built in Oshawa. |

Makes perfect sence to me Rich. If they have the numbers on the Judges what about the numbers on the 70 GTO's built in Oshawa? I read my buddies papers he got from GM of Canada and I thought I saw the number of 442 but it most likely ment the same that 442 was the total new in Canada.
His is a 1970 455 Automatic HO car and it has the designator #1 in the vin making it from Canada. Be nice to have all the numbers out of that Plant for GTOs for that year heh? http://www.gtoalley.com/70judgec.html
