Todd, from what I can figure, you are out of Charleston SC. My motor is torn down at the machine shop now getting some R&R.
We should get together to test and tune at Dorchester. Mine should be ready for the bottle in about 3 weeks.

But it weighs 3100 lbs with me in it. The combo Todd S. has sounds similar to mine so if he can get the weight down and get the car to hook he should be in the ballpark for low 10s or high 9s.

Its between the fenders, almost completely hooked up. The Victor took alot of rework to get it to fit. Mostly around the bolt holes. Not enough clearance to get them in.
Figuring out the alternator and simple stuff like the intake took most of today. It should fire tomorrow, if all goes well. I was told the Hooker Supercomp headers would be a pain, they were easier to install than my D port headers. They fit great, no massaging, and I have enough room to get to the filter, plus the bolts were all easily reached. Drivers side bolt #4, the one behind the center tubes caused the most trouble, a friend above and me under the car turning it a flat at a time worked good. If Dougs are easier, then they will install themselves! I am curious to know how other headers would fit. Thanks for the positive inspiration and the compliments. Russ I get out to Dorchester once in a while. I grenaded the old 455 back in April so I havent been out since. We meet at Sams on Rivers every 1st and 3rd saturday between 5 and 7 pm. Come on out and look for all the Fbodys, I might have it out sometimes since its still street legal. More pics tomorrow, if anyone wants to see them, some parts of it are "ghetto" lol. |

The front end isnt bolted down entirely yet, but it runs and moves under its own power. Still needs small stuff and the hood will be in later next week. If anyone has a site I can post a small movie file, you can hear it run. It sounds pretty mean, it might make some power...

I use 12 pt header bolts and a "special" boxed end ground thinner. One I had so thin it broke when I used it. Next set I'll heat and make that bolt dimple and the same one on the other side bigger.

7/16 Craftsman ignition wrench does wonders on header bolts... but you still need a normal wrench to snug them down good.
