According to this thread there should be about 10K 04 GTOs in the US.

http://www.newagegto.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=2197

I guess you can take this as good news or bad.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> As of the end of June there were approx. 3700 sold.
There were 600 or so sold in June. Figure since we are halfway through July then about 300 more have been sold. That adds up to 4000 sold as of today, give or take a few.

6100 on lots and 4000 sold means 10,100 GTO's out of a possible 16 to 18 thousand. I get this feeling they are not going to make all 16 to 18 thousand of these by the end of the summer.

We also know there will be 800 Pulse Red GTO's. That would make 10,900 or so.

Not good, not good at all....

Maybe educated consumers are waiting for dealers to stop gouging. Same thing happened with the Mustang Cobra's and STI's and EVO's. Many people do want them, but dealers and Pontiacs assine allocation set up has really put off a lot of people who like the car. Such as myself.

I would have no problem buying the right color combo(Impulse/Blue leather/6spd)for say $300 over invoice, but they are super rare and dealers that do have them won't let them go for that price and dealers around me are still wanting MSRP. For all I am concerned they can keep the car.

They have many of them in stock, and can't get rid of them even at under 30K, what's your next excuse?

I have been looking real hard at buying one. The dealers around here will not budge from around MSRP. If there are no incentives or rebates, they can keep it. I'll wait and buy a used one.

My dealer, one block from my house, has only had two , one pre-sold, the other a black auto, sat on the lot for the last two months until last week(guess it finally sold?)

Now, this is what has me confused- the black auto had 280 miles on it when I took my grandsons by to look at it about a month ago(it had a NO WARRANTY page on the windshield) and a price of $32,850 The salesman was more interested in talking about my 66 than trying to get me in the '04

I don't like the styling of this car(just my opinion) but I don't want it to fail. If my experience at the dealer is anything close to typical, it's no wonder the sales are poor!

You can say this about a lot of cars right now.
Have you seen the huge rebates available?
It's not just the GTO fellas. The hybrid cars
sales have sky rocketed. The Toyota hybrid
POS is now on backorder. Can you believe that?
We sure live in a different time.

Too bad there not built here, certain people can't blame the high price on overpaid union labor .
