Ya know, I really can't wait for the utes to make their way over here. I would seriously consider one, especially if they keep the Aussie front end.
I think that front looks more Pontiac than the GTO's does. However, I do like the Autocross nose job.

The Maloo is HSV (Holden Special Vehicle's) take on a SS Ute. The nose is the standard nose of the VX series HSV cars. They are upspec for engine power, suspension, bodykits.

Can sombody please explain the "ute thing" to me? Do tradesmen really carry all their work stuff in an expensive Maloo (with a rear cover spoler) and then have fun with it on the weekends? What is the ute appeal? For that money id rather have a monaro or somthing, it LOOKS better. True HSV utes look good- FOR UTES, but no matter how much power u slap on it or what body kits u put on it, its still a commercial ute. To me its like doing up a van- whats the point?
I can understand if I used a ute everyday and liked a little power id go for SS, but surly if I could afford a maloo I would not be an active tradesman? Now this drag racing ute, what possible thing would you need to ferry over a quarter mile in 8 seconds???
Sorry for the critique but im just tryin to understand....

someone long long time ago before utes existed had a thought and wrote to his car company: "why can't we have a car to take to church on Sunday, and load the hay bails and work stuff every other day ", and so the utility vehicle was born, half car / half truck.
and how about this El-Camino SS 454(LS6)

I can understand that, I just question that people are carrying bails of hay in a Maloo. (or going to church for that matter )
Whoa, that el camino has a very '71+ Holden Kingswood/monaro like front... see my post of a monaro elsewhere on this forum...

In Oz the SS Ute which can be optioned with leather etc. is $Oz40K. The 4-door SS sedan or wagon is $50K + optional leather and extras. The 2-door Monaro is $60K. The Monaro is loaded here - only options are sunroof, trans and satnav.
The Ute is lighter than both, quicker and handles damn near as well if you put a couple sacks of concrete in the very back. If you haul motorbikes or other stuff, jetskis etc it's great, plus they look great. No traction control, heaps of fun.

Yea, I see now. I still say the most awsome ute is the 6.2 liter HRT:
0-60mph in 4 sec
