Since I have heard that early Fbody headers fit big cars, would these fit mid 60s big cars?

I don't know that answer. I also would like to know. Do yo know in relation to an F-body the difference in position of the cross member on your car?

Ron that measurement on the back(10 1/4) thats from the bottom of the flange down to the top of the tube correct?

I'm Not sure....If they do fit I wonder if they'll make more power than my current set up with hedmann shortys going into 3 inch down pipes...kinda look like a tri-y now..The drivers side is the worse...I 'll post a pic...

Im pretty sure its the same because the 65/66 cars I know for sure and the 67/68 Firebirds are both rear steer cars. I have never tried it but everyone says 67/68 Firebird headers will fit a 65/66 big car.

Looking at the pic of you shortys. It looks like the # 5 tube comes out of the port & starts to go down once its behind the port. In the pic of the Tri-y you posted it looks like the # 5 tube goes down immediately from the port instead of behind it. But the pass side looks like it goes down behind the port. That pic is of the O-port design. So maybe the Pass MIGHT fit with the O-port desighn. But I doubt the drivers side would. On the D-port design, the drivers side & pass side both look like the pass side of the O-ports. So the D-ports would have a much better chance of fitting on both sides. Ron

If the D ports both look like the passengerside O ports then Im 99% sure they would fit a big car.

Joe,
You say that 67'/68' F-bodys headers may fit. But these are 70'-79' F-body headers. I've been told 2nd Gen F-body headers dont fit 1st Gen F-bodys. So it still may not fit. I would love it if they did fit more the one body style. Then more guys would have a great header. But someone's going to have to do a test fit to make sure. Ron

I agree Joe...By looking at them tho i would say my shorty's basically look like that already just not quite as long as tubes....Wish i knew if there would be a perf increase going to these!

Joe,
Since we know that it was not designed with this body in mind. If you order a set of non-coated headers. You can try installing them & if its obvious that there not going to fit with carefully setting them in. Then send them back without any dents. A small scratch is fine (& with any install theres going to be a scratch or two)cause I can coat them. But if it looks like they will fit or will fit with a small dent that you can live with then your set. Then we'll know if others can make them work also. Ron

ta-dude had asked about the access to the header bolts way back on the 1st page of this thread. Thit pics I posted on the 1st page were the 1st I ever posted. So I'll try to remeber how, but heres pics of all the room for a wrench & a socket wiyh an extendion.
On the O-ports you can easily get a socket & a wrench on both # 5 & 6. On the D-ports you can easily get a socket & a wrench on the # 5 but only a wrench on the # 6 easily. The pass side D-port[img]100_1668jpg[/img]

talking about f body headers, Ron(in case you dont know im the dutch guy) im not sure if i responbded on your last email , but me and my frinds are still in the market fore a round ported header for a 71 formula/round ported header for a 68 bird and 2 d ported headers for 68 bird all coated ofcours.........David

I sent an email to ask if the 71' was an auto or 4-speed? If its an auto, then I have a set now. If its a 4-speed then you will have one after the 1st of October.
Also I don't currently have a pattern for 67'-69' F-bodys. Ron
