Headers came in yesterday. Thanks Ron for getting these done and sent out even though you're still working other issues with them. I also appreciate Ron calling yesterday to check satisfaction/fit. Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to install them till early next week, but from what I'm hearing, it sounds like a fairly painless process when compared to other brand headers. The only issue Ron brought up was that the A/C on the automatic cars gets in the way, but all you have to do is unbolt the compressor bracket from the block and tie it up out of the way. Can't wait to get them on. I'll let ya'll know when I do.

Yes, my car does not have AC, but I was told that with the AC compressor in place. That its almost impossible to get to the 2nd bolt on the pass side. So it would make it much easier to install by moving it till the header is bolted in place. Also on the pass side motor mount, if it has a tab or ear on it. Then you need to remove the ear or tab so it wont hit the header.
Other than that they basically slid in place. I have another concern that we're working on for the drivers side & will confirm it by Mon.

OK, I have good news. I did a test fit today on Verdoro_68 's 68' GTO using both O & D-ports. Thanks Ken for letting me check the fit & helping out.
It took us about 45 min per side to get them in.
The D-ports fit great on both sides. The O-ports only the pass side fit great & the drivers side needs a small adjustment & it will be ready for the A-bodys.
So if anyone wants some for an A-body auto & its a D-port. Then I have them ready for you now. The O-ports will be a little after the 1st.

I just want to chime in here and say that I was really impressed with the quality and fit of these headers. They are really nice pieces. Thick flanges with a smooth face, great looking welds, thick tubing, easy oil filter and starter access, and a majority of the bolts are accessible by ratchet. All the reasons I got rid of the headers on my car are gone with these. I'd say the fit is on par or better than the set of factory Ram Air manifolds which I currently have on my car.

The only modification needed I saw would be finding a creative way to re-route the stock tranny cooler lines if you have an automatic. We came up with a couple ideas but if you are a sticker for a somewhat factory appearing car it might take some time to devise a presentable solution.

Thumbs up to Ron for putting the time and effort in to making such a nice product. It was great to meet you and I was happy to help out.

Whats the difference between 64-67' vrs. 68'-72'? Is it just the crossmember Or A-arm mount possitions? I looked at a 65' while I was test fiting on the 68' on Sat. I also saw a diagram of both frames & it looks like the A-arms maybe in the same locations, but the crossmember looks like it goes farther back on the 68'& up.
I have been told buy 4 guys that if it fits 68'-72' then it will fit 64'-67'. But if it fits 64'-67' then it may not fit 68'-72'.
So I know it fits a 68' great. So unless someone steps up with a 64'-67' A-body near by then I can only assume those 4 guys are right. I'm sure that they would know alot more about A-body's than I do.
If you buy a set then I'll send you two sets 1 coated & 1 not. You can try the uncoated set first so you wont chip or scratch them. Then if there's no problems, just send the un-coated set back & I'll pay the shipping for 1 set both ways.

Well, I got mine in last week (D ports on a 78 TA Auto) and finally got them installed. I ended up having to have an exhaust shop pull the motor to get the manifolds off because they were rusted so bad. The shop drilled and re-tapped 4 of the holes! Anyway, the shop did the ole sit them in the frame then put the motor in trick and they said it went very easy. Easier than most. Looking at the install I have only 1 minor problem and that is the brake lines are about 1/2" from the headers, which I think is probably too close, so I need to rebend the lines. There are absolutley no issues with the steering at all. I tried to take some pictures and have attached them, but they didn't come out very good. They stick below the frame less than an inch and the worst offender is plate I had welded to the collector as shown in the first pic. The second pic is of the driver's side with the front of the car at the top. You can see there's about 3/4" between the steering and the header. The pics didn't come out very well cause everything is painted black.

I also put the Pypes system on there. It worked well except for the placement of the chrome tips. The problem I have run into is that the tail pipes are too long and the tips are hitting on the rear spring hardware. I'm taking it back to the exhaust shop to weld everything cause I just don't like the clamps.

If I can get better pics of the install I'll post 'em.
