Bud, when are you gonna stop by? We can head down to the beer distributor so we can see how many cases of beer the trunk will hold.

Hmmm I wonder how many of those vehicles your refering to are bone stock and cost under $40,000.00? Or around the price of a 2004 GTO?

Very good runs, NickV - there are precious few cars that will match that in bone stock form in anything close to the same price range.

I will look forward to seeing some real timeslips from the bone stock 12-second Dodge Neons (SRT-4's) and bone stock 12-second Mustang Mach-1's that folks are fond of referring to. I have found, unfortunately, that one has to be very, very, very patient to see these.

a friend of mine was lookign into getting the neon srt-4 and the only times i found of them are 13.6 so going 12's in that is stupid and impossible with a stock car ( unless you count turning up the boost not stock ) then youll prolly blow it up ( a red one in town blew his up doing the same thing ) i dont know about the mustang. is there a hypertech powerprogrammer ot for it yet ?

Lets see. I did an infomal poll in my neighborhood and out of about 50 cars the only one that could do low 13's is mine. That makes 2%. There is a Cobra in the neighborhood over. So other than the Cobra I will have to go count how many over there cannot do low 13's. So what is rare?

Yeah, Mr. Goathead makes it sound like every car on the road does 13's. Now that I think about it. My 67 which does 11's means it's a really rare bird.

Is it not? How many other '67's run in the 11's?

Maybe I worded that wrong. I guess what I'm saying is, you said 13's are common today. Driving everyday to work 40 minutes each way on the highway and seeing hundreds of cars every day. I can say with confidence that not many of them are 13 second cars. How do I know? Because I rarely see any TransAm's, Camaro's, STI's, Evo's, Mustangs, Vipers, Corvette, Cobra's on the road day in and day out. Do see what I'm saying? You made it sound like every car on the road is a 13 second car which is just not true.

Nick you need to come to my side of town
I would sware that I see like 4-6 Z06 vettes a day along with atleast 20+ SS camaros, 20+ WS6's about 1 04 GTO a week now, about 10 STi's driving down the road, if you cound what shows up at the local hang outs, MY GOD! I counted 30+ diffrent turbocharged import cars last night. from hoped up golf GTI's that run low 12's to bone stock STI's WRX's EVO's and STR4's I would say we have a few 13 sec cars driving down the roads here. and I sware that every other fox body stang has a full bottle on board.
I don't know about down south where Danny lives but I know around here there are alot of fast cars.

and my Buddy tells me the other day he pulled up next to a silver 04 GTO and spanked it in his POS stang. made me sad, but I did help his car get fast. and the GTO driver musta SUCKED! he should have pulled him on the freeway.

anyway I still like the GTO, makes good power and even if the looks are not up to par, I would own a 04 if I could afford one.

Of course there are faster cars. I don't understand what that has to do with anything. There will always be tuner cars that can be made faster then a production car. For most of us on this board, Stock is just a starting point. 13's is a damn good starting point. It is still faster then any stock GTO ever made. Back in the 60's there were faster factory tuner cars too. Shelby's, Yenko's ect. Sure, none of those had a fart can, so it may be less embracing to get beaten by one, but times have changed. The GTO still runs with all of the FASTEST production cars in its price range, like it always has. A very low 13 is a performance figure that any Stock muscle car can be proud of.

Actually guys you need to get it straight. The new GTO resembles the BMW 6 series. No cavalier, or gp or ga.

Nick, contact your local Pontiac dealer for a fix for the rear. There is a service bulletin to replace ther rear bushings and bolts. Shouldn't cost a dime.

Already took care of that 2 weeks ago. I'm on top of it.

Nickv-Do you know what the altitude is at that track you were running at? Having a hard time figuring out why the stock GTO,s over here are such pigs.
