pul the trunk lid and empty the trunk out, then place a 4x4 under the top of the 1/4's and use the engine crane sitting by the car in the photos. the back 1/2 of the car doesn't weigh much and will come right up with this method.
to answer a previous ? re the body bolts. one will come out just to give you hope, the the rest of them break off just to frustrate you. that's why i didn't pull the body on mine. the mounts are still in decent shape and i want to drive this car again before my kids have their licenses. mike

Just so you know I looked (ofcourse!) Wuz a nice floor(double whistle)and sorry U hav Fastener prblms. Heard factory had Q/C-Management prblms back then. Hmmm. Lik the factory frame stiffeners in rear. Rear-HeH HeH. Wll b good!

You will need to weld braces across the top of the door openings so the floor pan does buckle when the doors are off. John

Well I got everything off the old frame. Now I will be sandblasting everything. I ordered a complete front end and bushing kit from suspension restorations. Should get everything this week. I will keep everyone posted

The website is www.suspension.com. Speak to Bruce. He knows his stuff. I went for my lungs and ordered everything he had. Front end kit, all bushings, ball joints, idler, center link, inner and outer tie rods and sleeves, every body bushing you name it. The whole thing was $650. I will let you know when it arrives hopefully by tomorrow. All parts are domestic nothing offshore. I just finished pressing all the bushings out and getting ready to clean and paint.

petesake,
Don't take this the wrong way, but the way you have the body supported doesn't look good. Why would you use a 6x6 and only use a couple of inches of it? It looks like it is tipped sitting there. You really need to crib that blocking and get more of the 6x6 under the body before it comes tumbling down. If you take the 6x6 and place underneath the rocker panel you will be better off. The blocking should be a cribbed, it will not take much of a bump to have your dreams or your life come to an end. The car body should be supported under the firewall and in front of the rear wheels. Take a look at my site to see what I am talking about. Not that mine is anymore elaborate than yours, but you can see where I placed the posts. I had my body in the air like that for nearly 13 months, did the trunk, the center cross member and floor with it like that. Never worried about the thing rolling off the post or blocking.

What are you going to do to the frame? Are you going to sandblast and paint or powdercoat? Curious as to how your project is going. Looks like you got an early start this winter. Things have been real cold lately. Good luck. I need to see more for inspiration. Keep the photo's coming. Thanks. |

The original frame had some serious issues. Fortunately the car came with another frame that was media blasted and expoxy coated. I have taken out all of the bushings and ball joints from the old control arms and am sandblasting them as time allows. I should see the new parts this week. As things get together I will post more pictures. Cold? it was a balmy 5 here this morning. My hope is to have it back together enough to drive it this summer. Hopefully by this time next week the suspension will be going back in. I will keep you posted. Peter |

Bainbridge is about 30 miles above Binghamton, about 95 miles south of Albany. It's about 3 1/2 to 4 hours from where you are. How bad is the frame? Is it weldable? Jim
