I've never had any come up to me and say "hey, what kind of jellybean is that?" The ONLY responses I have gotten so far are positive responses from (many) people who new it is a GTO right off the bat and wanted a closer look. (Don't be hat'in!)
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I don't see it. To me it looks like a 400 hp Avis rental car with an interchangeable powerplant.

I've mellowed in my old age. I think I'm more upset by the way "Overhaulin'" butchered  Lance Armstrongs 70 GTO ( bling sucks )these days than what GM did to the 2004.

The interior unfortunately is on par with alot of new cars/trucks-plastic.Shoot there isn't a padded dash out there anymore.
I stil don't know why the gauge clustre is lacking an oil pressure gauge, but then my 409 Impala and my 65 GTO didn't either, but they had idiot lights.
Off to the PSN we'll take the 2004 as the trim shop just now finished the 81 and it needs fome other things before it goes to the track, see what a bone stock 04 can do in the warm Texas weather!

The Monaro has a dual cluster, including oil pressure, in the center top of the dash. I don't understand Pontiac's decision not to bring this over with the GTO. The cluster has "American musclecar look" written all over it.

I don't hate the car. I just think GM could have done a much better job at delivering a modern day GTO than what they did with the current format steeped in generics and shortcuts.

I munched a cam on break in with my real Pontiac, but never did so on either of the 2 LS-1s I've owned.Therefore, using your logic, LS-1s, SBC derived or not, are superior engines to traditional Pontiacs (but still not as good as the SBC LT-1), which I guess are also Chevies, since they use pushrods, have 2 valves per cylinder and are V-8s. The distributor caps are even interchangeable betwen a Chebbie and Pontiac, so obviously, they are the same...... 
Did you get into the 15's with your '69 yet?

Actually; the VIN is ALL that matters. Like it or not, my GTO is as much a Pontiac as yours is. And I don't have to prove it to you by meeting your subjective criteria.

Funny, I don't hear you bragging about your car at all..... just tearing down mine.
How about answering my earlier question:
"Why do you go to so much trouble to tell us you don't like the car? Do you do this in real-life? Stopping people in the parking lot of the grocery store to tell them how much you hate their car and why it's not "worthy" of your approval?"

Last I checked, it was a GM body and a GM motor.
Arguably, if you wanted GMs best performance V8 motor in 1964, you probably should have bought a relatively inexpensive Pontiac GTO. Today, if you want GMs best performance V8 you can spend $45K+ for either an SSR or a Vette, or you can buy a Pontiac GTO for <$34K. That's a value any way you slice it.

Some real times with a bone stock, stock tires, best 13.56, 13.64@100mph averaged 14.20s-40s @ 97-98 all day long after the computer torque management kicked in.
Driving to Dallas at 90mph behind a BMW SUV got 21 mpg!!

I'm a bit surprised at the MPG. I get 25mpg at 75mph in my '04 M6 and at 60 I get 26-27mpg. I didn't realize that an additional 15mph would hurt that much, and drafting too.
