In my opion no.I like the color myself I think the value would go up.Expresso brown is another story I dont like this color,it all depends on whos wanting to buy it and what each persons tast is.

Judge Man, your estimates are quite interesting. I am trying to gather some production information on '69 Judge converts. How many have you managed to find? I would be interested in seeing a breakdown by color. Do you track anything else on the cars you have found like transmissions, options, interior/top colors, etc?

Hi Scott I dont have any break down with the color of tops or inter.But I have the colors broken down for the verts and the break down of engine and trans.Like I said before these #'s on these colors are'nt 100% correct.

Judge Man, Thanks for sharing those estimates with me - I found them to be quite interesting. I have had a fascination with the '69 Judge converts for more than 20 years. My goal is to locate as many of these as I can and to document colors, options, etc. to get a better idea of what the breakdowns really were. It is difficult to do this as I am sure you already know.

Over the last 5 years, I have come across almost 50 of these cars. Here are the color breakdowns that I have found:

Carousel Red - 18
Liberty Blue - 3
Matador Red - 2
Limelight Green - 1
Starlight Black - 6
Verdoro Green - 7
Palladium Silver - 2
Cameo White - 3
Expresso Brown - 1
Mayfair Maize - 1
Burgundy - 3
Antique Gold - 1
Crystal Turquoise - 1

So far, I have been able to document that half of these are real Judge converts and I still have a lot of owners to contact. It is interesting to see how many colors they came in. I have some information on transmissions, interior/top colors and options also but it will take me some time to pull that info together. If you are interested let me know and I will post it later.

Judge Man, Here is some more info I was able to find. I located these cars (and in many cases talked to the owners) while looking to find one for sale. I took notes on colors, transmissions, options, etc. - basically anything they told me about their car. It was really interesting hearing the stories.

I have to dig through the original notes to pull out more of the details but this is some of what I have. Keep in mind that this is only for the '69 Judge converts...

20 cars had 4-speed's, 9 had TH400's and one had a 3-speed and the remaining cars I have no info on. At least two of the cars had an auto on the column and the 3-speed was a bench seat car.

I can also tell you that only a couple of cars were highly optioned (more than 20) while most cars seemed to only have 8 or less. There were even a few cars that had 4 or less options from the factory.

Give me some time and maybe I can pull some more statistics together on options. Some of the things I remember about the options were:

- Not that many cars came originally with hood tachs
- Gauges weren't that common either
- More cars than I expected had open rear ends
- A/C is a rare option on a Judge convert and only 2 TH400 cars and 2 4-speed cars that I came across had it
- The center console seemed to be popular

The way your doing your research is very simular to the way I did it.Of course I did'nt write the color of top or inter.I just wrote the exter color down.The other info you provided is very interesting,I was curiuos about the hood tach if it was rare or not.Have you been paying attention to how many have hideaway headlights?I would be curious to see how many had hidaways.Thanks again Scott.

Judge Man, I don't have as much information on options as I do on colors, but I am always working on getting more. However, of the 20-25 Judge converts that I have option info on, here are some details (as built) on the options you mentioned:

Hideaways (RPO 414) - 7 cars had them
Gauges (RPO 444 & 484) - 9 cars had them
Hood Tach (RPO 471) - 10 cars had them
Console (RPO 472) - 14 cars had them

Hood tachs and hideways were often added to cars that didn't come with them so it is difficult to know for sure, without seeing the PHS docs or the broadcast sheet, what options are original. The numbers I provided (above) are accurate.

One other bit of information I forgot to mention before that I found interesting. Of the '69 Judge converts I found, it seems that almost twice as many were assembled in Baltimore than in Arlington. Very few were made in Fremont. I am sure there are more Fremont cars out there but I just haven't come across them yet.

Thats pretty cool info you have,it seems you have the same passion about Judges as me.I'm always trying to find more info about Judges.It seems that every time I get on a website,read a book or even see something on TV about GTO's I learn something everyday about these cars.
