From day one I've been extremely careful with my car not to park too cose to curbs or parking blocks. Other than two miniscule rock chips my GTO was pristine, better than showroom-fresh, never even driven on a wet road. Well it finally happened. We went to a party last week(posted in the Friday night thread), and the driveway at this house is one of those excessively steep ones with a big dip at the bottom. Going up wasn't a problem, but coming down was. I saw this horrible angle and though "Oh crap". I was sure that going straight at it would have torn my bumper clean off or at least crushed it pretty good. So I backed as far to one side as I could and took it at the shallowest angle possible, barley creeping through the dip. I thought I was in the clear until the very last inch or two when I heard this faint sound like stepping on dry, brittle leaves. Well here's the result. In hindsight I probably should have backed up the hill, turned around and backed down the driveway.

What annoys me most is this guy's spread is about $5 million. Everything about the place is impeccably designed and maintained. Did he bother to think about the end of the driveway? Noooooo. You should see the battle scars on the pavement. It actually looks a lot like the underside of my front bumper.

That's not so bad. My car gets driven on a mile of dirt road twice a day, and I have managed to drive over and get "high centered" on a 50 foot roll of chain link fence. I almost ripped the front bumper cover clean off trying to back the car off. I had to leave it and get a jack to rescue the car. The first scratches are always the worst.

That's an OUCH. Chit happens when you don't have a trailer queen and you don't and that's the important thing, you drive your car.

My freind backed his blown '69 BB Camaro under a flat bed PU that he forgot he had just backed in front of his garage door. Messed up the rear quarter and trunk. All he was doing was backing the car out to move a new project in. Man he was ticked. I'm dreading the day I do something like that with my car OR have somebody do that to it but I dread even worse the day I'm afraid to drive it and then I better get rid of it.

I did the same thing only on the corner. Also, just ran my wifes brand new van into a pole at DQ! Very unlike me and very upsetting.

lol not heartless, i'm a fan of the new gto, but i only said because I think the gto will be easier and cheaper to fix then the TA

I knew that Jonathan. If my TA were driveable right now it would have cleared that dip though. Even though the nose is longer, it's much higher than the GTO, and I don't have the front airdam and fender flares on the car yet...it kinda looks like a shark, or so my wife tells me. For now I'm just going to fill the scrapes on the GTO bumper with touchup paint(just to keep it from peeling), then I'll have the whole front fascia repainted next spring. It's not worth making an insurance claim since repainting is about the same cost as my deductable. I'll probably pop the front grills out over the winter and paint them black myself in the mean time...they're the only gray pieces left on the car.

Jeff,

Since you are going to paint anyway, are you interested in doing a CV8 nose? I'm looking for someone to go in on shipping. It seems two kits are the same shipping cost as one.
