I traded my '04 about 3 weeks ago. I got $19,700 on trade and they already sold it for $21,900. The car had 13,500 miles on it. They had it on the lot for less than 2 weeks. A new one with zero miles should be worth a couple grand more.

Checking used prices around here on '04s they are asking for $22-27k. Seems a little high to me, but I guess it varies by region. The dealer's offer of $25k falls right in the middle there. It doesn't make any sense to move on that when I could get an '05 for a little bit more. Seems like prices in general are a little better in the midwest. I don't know why...the Bay Area isn't exactly crazy about gas guzzling musclecars.

Can I ask why you traded in your '04?

I'll admit, they should've know better to throw on the scoops and split rears in 04 vs 05. These simple cues seem to have swayed many a classic fan and couldn't have hurt to roll out in 04. I wonder where we would be today if they would have done that...

This car beats a BMW all day long!

I know the discussion has veered a little, but I figured I'd post an update. The dealer left a message yesterday morning asking if we found a car yet. I called him back today and he said he spoke with the owner. The owner said they need to get the car off the lot and to see what it would take for me to come get it. I told them $22.5k would seal it. I know it's not what most of you would consider a steal, but that price is towards the low end of what a used '04s are bringing around here.

In my opinion, the only color that the new GTO looks "good" in is black. All the other colors really expose its generic looks. The GTO does however have a really good interior.

The only one in denial is GM thinking they designed a Rental Car look-alike that would compete with a BMW consumer base. The only one stupid enough to believe it is you.

I still liked the car. We've got another little one one the way so I got the wife an Envoy. The back seat access is terrible in the GTO.

That's a respectable number and MUCH better than 25K. Good luck! Hope you get it...

I fear I may have to do the same, unless of course they fix the seat in 07 which isn't looking to be likely! Trailblazer SS or an early 07 CTS-V w/ Auto I'm hoping...

ANyone know if a Auto CTS-V is in our future?

Me too. So far I haven't heard anything from them. I don't know if they are still laughing or if they are playing a game waiting for me to call to see if I'll budge.

I got an official quote on the other '04 about 5 miles away. Where as the salesman told me they might be able to go $24500 on the car, the internet sales manager told me the best he could do was $25,900.

I also put the feelers out on another '04 special edition I found about 50 miles away in a smaller town. It's identical to the red car I've been haggling on. I hope they are more anxious to move it than the other dealers.

Well, I'm back to where I started. Neither of the dealers will budge on their $25k price. I guess know the reason why these dealers still have '04s on their lots. To quote one of the sales managers "It doesn't make good sense to go below that price." I guess it makes better sense to let it sit there and depreciate further while they pay inventory tax on it.

Hell, for that much money you can get a used '05 and for even less you can find a used 04.

Hmmm, it's too bad you think folks on the roll call are idiots. If you review any of my posts you'll find quite the opposite. I think anybody on that roll call that actually has a 2004 / 2005 GTO bought the car because they liked the way it looks and performs, not because it is a modern interpretion of whatever it's supposed to be interpreting or some vain attempt to align themselves with a higher end automobile as was GMs supposed intention.

Default 04-05 GTO

Verdoro our local dealer has th 05s for 27K. I believe I would go that way before going 25 for an 04. They have the red tag price plus 2k from GM and 1k from the dealer. I really don't see how you could go wrong on an 05 for 27K.

I got my 04 in May for $24,500. This late in 05 they ought to be dealing better than that. At the end of the year her in Texas they have to pay tax on inventory. Sounds like he ought to eat another year of tax on it trying to move it for that much! Obviously not good business for the net income of the place.
