I found the post regarding the lower baffles or filler panel as I called it. Look at post #14 and skip down to #17.

Greg,
I got my new ones from Performance years. I attached the photos of the new and old parts. The longer ones go on top of the radiator and the shorter ones go into the lower brackets. As you can see the new ones are not a great match, but they will fit in the brackets. They will fit in the upper radiator hold down as well, even if they are too short. They are better than the ones I got from OPG - those looked nothing like the old parts and would not fit at all. Maybe they fit a chevy?

Thanks for the link. That description of the "filler panel" sounds like what came out of my car. It is the long rubber strip in the photo. It is attached to the core support between the brackets under the radiator. While I was working on cleaning up the core support I saw that the seals around the frame rails are shot. They sound like what is described in that thread. Time to hunt for those too!

Jon, thanks for posting the pic of that lower radiator filler/baffle. I've never seen one of those on either of the '68s I have had.
As for the ones that attach to the support and fill the opening around the framerails, I've seen those in the Ames catalog...PY probably has them too. I actually used my originals as a template and cut new ones from roofing paper. That was before I knew they were offered in the Ames catalog.

Found them in Ames' catalog. Looks like I will have to put together an order. They have a lot of the little bits that I am missing. That is part of the fun finding all the little parts for the car!

I need to join the PY journal so I can look up the part numbers. Maybe someone has some NOS radiator isolators.

Jon, I see you're a relatively new poster. Got any pics of your car? From your avatar it looks like it's painted Carousel Red.

Greg,
My car is not painted Carousel Red, its a bit brighter orange. Here are a couple of pics.

Edit: I guess I exceeded my limit on attachments. I need to set up a link. Here:

Wow, really sharp car. I'm not usually a big fan of non factory colors on our cars but that really is tastefully done and looks great, especially with those wheels.

Greg,
Thanks for the complements.
I just have to paint the radiator brakets and the core support and then I can install the new radiator, hoses and bits. I figured that the nice shiny new radiator should have a nice clean home. This simple project ended up taking far longer than I anticipated!

Yeah, I share the same affliction. I went to change a rotten battery tray in the Trans Am and wound up sandblasting and restoring the radiator support and everything associated with removing and replacing it. Then I painted the engine. Took me two or three months to get it back together.

Opening this up again, as I am not sure by reading through it I have a clear understanding to what is right or wrong. I am assembling as a write this cause I am seeing a lot of issues that previous posters have.

Original 68 core support. Original bottom brackets and isolators. Picture verified as I took it apart. Fan shield is original as are the top isolators.

Fan shield fits like crap with a gap towards the back of core support just ahead of radiator. I have the bolts torqued down considerably. Radiator is 1 ⅝ back from core support at the top. Top isolators can only go in one way from how the nipples align with the holes. I have the larger end of the isolator on the front side of radiator.

I am more concerned with the angle of the radiator as it has the gap stated above and it leans back considerably. See photos.

I just went and looked at mine and there is only about 7/8" between rear edge of the core support and the front edge of the radiator at that point.
The only thing I can think of is that the fan shroud must be different were the rubber isolators are located. I mean, that's what basically sets the space there. Is it an aftermarket piece?
I'll take a photo of mine tomorrow. I don't have a good enough camera to take a decent pic in the present light levels in my garage.

Default I kinds looks like

possibly the rubbers are in backwards on top

the wide side should go towards the motor and it would stand the radiator up straighter

with the wide side to the front the radiator tilts towards the motor on top..

or the lowers are in wrong...

I do know there are 3 lower brackets at least for the bottom

2 row 3 row 4 core and left and rights... maybe 4 different ...

wish I could help more tonite

The top isolator could be swapped, meaning the thicker part pointing towards the the engine vs. toward the radiator. It would gain me ½ inch or so plus the radiator would stand up a bit.

I do have isolators from a 3 core radiator with a tank measurement at 2 ⅝. Those fit that radiator perfectly in the grooves. The 4 core radiator tank is 3 inches. The top mount isolators grooved space is also 3 inches so I think I have those in the right spot. Just made sure not to mix and match sets.

I also checked on a second original fan shield that I have to verify the painted one I have is the same. They are.

Could the 47 year old isolators I am using be swelled? Still looking for answers.

Here are a couple of photos of mine. Now that I can compare your pics to mine, I can see that the rubber isolators are reversed on mine. Thickest part at the rear.. I honestly don't know which way is correct but I don't plan to change mine at this point....

Ill flip mine around. I would gain ½ to ¾ of an inch by doing so.

Thanks for all the help.

One more question about the radiator filler rubber on the bottom of the core support.
I read the post http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...ghlight=filler but there were no photos of how it is installed. In this post there are few shots, but I am trying to figure out what type of fastner holds it on? I looked online at AMES and eBay but my search terms did not even find the rubber.

The rubber seal is secured with 4 metal retaining clips that are sorta T shaped.
Here are some photos of a core support that I pulled from a LeMans (V8 A/C car) On this example, the seal is also secured on the LH side with the same bolt used to fasten the lower LH radiator mount. Hope these photos help...
