So I received my manifolds today from RARE, they seem to be good overall except for the middle port on one side....here are some pictures.

Adamhound, contact paul at Ram air and talk to him, he will make it right. He is very customer orientated.

These are sand castings. Where you expecting a CNC port?

It looks like there is not enough material in that area to clean up when the sealing surface was milled, like an incomplete casting. The 2nd and 4th pics look like this to me. A small 'line' at the seam in the very center of the divider itself is acceptable, but not a big void where the entire divider won't seal against a gasket. Am I being fooled by the pics here? A little hard to tell exactly. If I'm mistaken and you are only referring to the small imperfection (lack of material affecting only the 'D' port shape itself) at the bottom right corner of the port on the left, it's nothing to be concerned about.

I was referring to the line in the center, it runs on both sides of each port...just wondering if that is acceptable.

As a matter of fact, one manifold doesn't even have that center divider on most sets of stock standard log manifolds. I would think that many sets of those new RA manifolds are like that, that won't affect the way they function. If you're using the stock steel shim manifold gaskets (I did with mine), they are wide-open in the center and don't even seal in the divider area anyway. |

I have some fel pro gaskets to go with it.

Are the fel-pros steel shim or paper. I'd use the factory style beaded steel shim myself. Additionally, a very thin coat of exhaust sealer, like walker acousti-seal, will help sealing and keep oxidation down.

Adamhound, I used the following gaskets on my R.A.R.E manifolds, can you guess where I got them. Don't use the plain steel ones.

I have bought RAII and RAIV manifolds from Ram Air Restorations and both sets have been flawless.

Divider imperfections will not hinder perf nor economy, heat/thermals, nor noise.
Yea, stock manifolds had the cast-void line there. |

Pic attached: ![]() Note: There is no gasket for the divider. It is not important.

i'd be more concerned about the location of the mounting bosses for the exhaust pipes
they interfere with the 66/67 frame, if that's your intended use grab the grinder and have fun (don't know why they haven't fixed that)

I went with Felpro gaskets on my new R/a headers instead of the metal and they sealed great.

The FELPRO fabric will act as a thermal barrier allowing your head to run cooler than the metal crush gaskets...less ping, more radiator cooling margin. HIS
