Doing a fine job there Scott. I am located in Lubbock Texas and have some 67 GTO/Lemans parts cars if you need anything. Shoot me an email if anything comes up and I can see what I have.
Keep up the good work, you are doing fine. Monty. |

Nice car, as stated it is a good starting point. Nothing too bad.
Did you get that gap line up between the fender and trunk? Question about the tailpanel install: Did you drill holes in the replacement tail panel and then weld from the inside out? Or did you drill holes in the outer panel and weld outside in? Reason I am asking is I am going to start my replacement panel not in the too distance future. Welcome aboard! Keep up the good work! Hey Scott,
Looks like the resto is well under way and looking great! I am partial to Rallye 1s on the 66/67 GTOs. What was the original color of your car? Root Beer doesn't show on the Color Chart for 67. LOL Jim http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.asp...ntiac-pg01.jpg

Well after numerous hours with a wire wheel and torch I managed to get all the old undercoating off. I cleaned her up yesterday and today I painted the Por-15 on the underside. Tomorrow I will spray the Quiet Car under it and have the body back on the frame by Thursday. I haven’t been able to spend much time on the project lately, but I am fired up again to finish the car by Feb. I am anxious to get started on the body work so I can get some paint on the exterior soon. I was thinking about painting POR on the interior and trunk as well with exception of the dash.

Well I think that I am ready to have the high build primer sprayed. I was busy for awhile there, but during the holidays I got back into the project. Let me know if you see something that I am missing.

Scott it's looking good. My favorite year of the GTO. I have 2 67's myself. One is finished to the point that I drive and enjoy it and one has a lot of rust issues to deal with. Yours looked virtually rust free compared to it.
I understand that it does take a lot of time and effort to get where you have on this one in such a short time. Maybe I'll eventually get my rust bucket put back together. My 10 year old grandson wants to help me get it done so that maybe it'll be ready for him by the time he's old enough to drive

Sorry for the late post. The car was painted twice with a high build primer and then blocked out, almost back to metal. It is now in the shop getting painted. I've decided to go with a non-original color of viper blue with a gun metal silver top. The car is technically not numbers matching, so originality was not a main concern. Here are some shots at the painters. The shop is going to do some minor tweaking on the decklid to correct the gaps also. My plan was to have the car done in less than a year and I just might make it.

From looking at your pics , it brings back memories of my car last summer. It was in the same stage as your car is today. After paint the real fun starts, putting it back together and wondering why things don't fit the same.
awe memories Scott

I got some pictures from the painter last night. He got some of the smaller pannels jammed along with the fenders and hood.

Ok here are the pictures of the car painted. It still need to be wet sanded and buffed, but here are some early shots. I expect to take a few shots on the color from some folks, but I wanted to be a little different.
