Yes it can be made to work with a BBC. I had a 6 speed in my 70 camaro, and used the stock pedals & stock mechanical (non hydraulic) linkage. Worked great.
Is your trans LT or an LS model? It will make a difference. LT trans are easier to make work. Mine was an LS model & I bought a McLeod Industries adapter plate at Summit. There are a few more things you'll have to figure out. X-member, speedo, and get your driveshaft shortened. Your shifter will be about 4 inche further back than stock location as I recall.
