Yeah... Look at that uncracked header panel and straight hood. Great deal for a hundred bucks based on that alone.

It's a base model 400 4bbl auto Trans Am. Zero options except for deluxe interior and AC. The interior plastic is baked from the Arizona sun, but the seats are still in really nice shape for some reason. The dash also was never cut for an aftermarket radio, which is the first time I've ever seen one like it ;-)

The column was cracked and broken, I put a tilt column from a '78 Firebird and a new formula wheel on it:





The seats cleaned up really well:





It has some rust, but every panel is extremely straight, and the floorpans, frame rails, and undercarriage are in perfect condition.



Believe me, that header panel is extremely cracked. It just doesn't show up in pictures. The hood is perfect though.

The AC is still hooked up and has a charge, but I doubt it works.

1975's already dont get enugh respect, now you want
to push a 1974 color on us! (lol just kidding!)

Yeah it's a great color though, I always wanted
to see what a 1976 would look like in that blue.
It's darker than the 1979 & up cars were painted

Is the paint formula the same from 1974-1975?
or did they change the color & the name?

P.S. Great looking Wheels on the 74, I wanted
a cast look American Racing 200s for mine in 15"
When I bought them Polished was all that was offered
and they are too pretty to paint over so I left them shiny.

I tried for years to find original CP200s but all the ones
at the swap meets were beat up bad or 14" so I went
with brand new ones for the sake of safety.


I got to take some better photos of mine and post em' here.

I'm 99% sure it's #29, are the formulas to mix the paint the same?
I hope it's the same as 74 admirility blue, I really like that color, it's
not too Greenish like the 79 & up navy blue. It almost looks black
some times.

Rack - I always thought that the '74 Admiralty Blue and the '75 Stellar Blue were the same color, not so.
Cowl tag paint code was 29 for both years, but the color changed.

Go to http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ and check it out.

'74 paint code 29 Admirilty Blue is PPG mix # 2526, while '75 paint code 29 Stellar Blue is PPG mix # 2748. Different mix formula.

Not sure if the colors were the same in '74 and '75. Actually I didn't even know they had different names. My car can look deep purple or even black depending on the light.

As far as the wheels goes I bought them from American that way back about 4 years ago I think it was. They weren't offered in that finish in the catalog but they made them that way for me. I had to have them that way, that's the way they looked in the old days other than the polished rim. I had someone at a car show a few years ago tell me that he had tried to get them that way from American and he couldn't. I don't know about that because you can see there they are. God knows they might be the only ones like that?I hope not because all that means to me is someone will try to steal them with my luck.

I wonder if you parked the 2 years together if you would notice a difference.
I have seen a few 1974 T/As painted a lighter brighter blue (like 75 Bimini Blue) and I always thought that color was Admirility Blue, I guess the cars I saw were painted wrong.

I have seen the 16" & up sizes of those wheels in a cast look finish before,
just not the 15" sizes, Maybee by now the make them, I found on the summit
racing web site the old style ARE plastic hex center caps, so I bought a set
and they fit great and give that 70s-80s look to the wheels, If I want 90s
Billit look I can just switch the caps back. The only bummer is the older wheels
have a thicker cast aluminum lip like the torque thrusts have and the new ones
have a thinner spun aluminum lip.

Oh, so the 15's in the cast finish are the ones that are hard to find. That's a good idea with the center caps. You can play with the look of the car with an easy quick change. If you're at a car show and someone happens to show up with another TA like yours it will be easy to fix that in a couple minutes. Not that at any average (non Pontiac specific) car show you really ever even see more than one or two second gen TA's. I think I see more first gen Firebirds at car shows than I do second gen TA's, for that matter even second gen Camaros. I remember when it seemed like every other car on the road was a second gen. F-body. What happened to them all? Why is it the second gen Camaros even seem (to me anyway) scarce compared to the first gen cars. Was it because they didn't sell as many or was it because they just didn't hold peoples imagination like the first gen car OR am I just going crazy?
