Another week goes by and the parts search continues. Went to look at a door and it was perfect............. on the outside. Bottom inside was gone. Seller said he several more doors that he would check out and e-mail me pictures if he had a good one.
I did buy a fender extension from him for $10.00 And I ordered a about $100 worth of parts from our host. I will update with the exact amount when the shipment arrives.
The body has been soda blasted but, I don't know if anything else has been done.

Well, I got a little done this week. Repaired the rollers on the lower door hinges and temporarily installed the radiator. I bought $173.59 worth of parts. That included the fender extension, door hinges , roller repair kit, radiator hoses and clamps, radiator insulators and 3' of 3/8" wire loom to use as sound deadner on the inner door latch rods.
My body man has been working on the car but there has been no charge from him yet.
I am trading my rotisserie and some trim work at his house for some of the body work.
Anyway, here are the new figures.
Labor is 244hrs = $4880.00
Parts = $6394.64
Total = $11,274.64

Well, I just got back from a 700 mile round trip to South Carolina where I picked up a set of doors. I only needed the passenger side but had to buy both to get it. The doors were $200 and the gas for the trip ran $150.
I would like to thank Michaelroy for his help. He went to Charlotte, bought the doors and brought them back to Greenville, saving me about 200 miles and three hours driving.
He would not accept anything for doing this so. Mike, I owe you.
I also bought some bodymount bolts from another PYer who only asked for postage. So, Bill, thank you too.
Gas prices were out of this world. One station was selling it for $4.60 and the station a block away for $3.99. I was proud of my GMC though. It got 21mpg running 70-80mph.
I didn't do anything to the car this week other than drive all weekend.
So, here are the new totals
Labor is 244 hrs = $4880.00
parts = $6600.59

Well, I went to Columbus Friday and saw my car. They have 90% of the body work done. They still need to replace the passenger side rear quarter and install the body mount braces that go behind the rear wheels.
But, it is looking a whole lot better now. The body has been soda blasted and primed. Since my body man does not have a breakdown of his cost as far as labor and supplies I am going to add a new subtotal to this project. It will include all outside work done.
The trunk pan has been installed, driver's rear quarter work has been done, both front fenders and drivers door are fixed. I had to get another passenger side door and i took it to him Friday along with a driver's side fender extension.
Back here I cleaned up some more body mount bolts, door hinges and door hinge bolts.
That took two hours. I also bought the doors and body mount bolts. Here are the latest totals
Labor is 246 hrs = $4.920.00
Part_________ = $6,806.54
Outside work = $2,000.00
Total________=$13,726.54

Wow...that be some cheap labor...is that your labor on your own car? I'm going through a resto right now...the body is in shop and the chassis, motor, tranny suspension is done. I am 7K deep into the body and it only sits in sealer right now. He still has a few small patches to put in.

The $2,000(outside work) is what I have paid in cash. I also traded a $1,400 rotisserie and $200 worth of supplies and labor to do some trim work in his house. So, all total, I have $3,600 in the body work so far. He still has to replace the passenger side rear quarter. I gave him a used quarter and ordered the lower patch panel for it today.
The other labor listed is for my time.

I'll have to start a thread and post pics of my resto effort. I'll be setting the motor and tranny down onto the chassis this weekend. Been waiting on backordered RA manifolds to put exhaust in.

I cleaned and painted the fan box that mounts on the firewall. Does anyone make the gasket that goes between it and the firewall? Waiting on my parts so the rear quarter can be replaced.
It took two hours to do the fan box.

I bought a gasket kit for A/C cars from Ames. It fit OK, but not great. It worked, and seems to seal just fine.

The parts have been shipped to my body man and I am going to take him the taillights and eyebrow trim Thursday. I cleaned and painted another set of taillight housings and the license plate bracket. Three hours labor. Also bought $35.00 worth of parts from a PYer. You know who you are and Thank You. The trim was real nice. So, my latest totals are:

Parts................= $6,841.54
Outside labor.....= $2,000.00
Total..............= $13,861.54

Went by the body shop last Thursday. They were in the process of replacing the passenger side quarter. Norman had also painted the under side of the deck lid. It is going to be beautiful!
Then, today, while I was driving through Atlanta Norman called and said he is ready for me to bring him the rolling frame and the rest of the body parts. So, I will probably be making that trip the end of this week.
I paid him another $1,000 plus I bought another $351.65 worth of parts. These included the lower patch panel, under hood bolt kit and door alignment wedges from our host. I also won an e-bay auction for a remote mirror. It came last week and was as good as the seller said it would be. I will try to get a picture or two posted soon.
So, here are new totals.
Labor@251 hrs. = $5,020.00
Parts..............= $7,193.19
Outside Labor..= $3,000.00
Total............= $15,213.19
